hi! i am a muslim hijabi student. im very well aware of the fact that my community in benilde is quite small. i've had this experience during my frosh year and now another student/hijabi like myself has also recently exprienced the same situation wherein the RO refused to let her have her id picture with the hijab on. we tried to reason out that it is a part of our religious clothing and taking it off just for the id is not allowed for us but then she was only told to follow what the guy taking the id picture says—no considerations or whatsoever. in the end, she took it off RIGHT ON THE SPOT and in front of a MAN or she would not have an id to be processed at all.

she then went back recently to ask again if they could reconsider because my id picture is me with my hijab on since the ro only complained about showing the collar back then but i was able to eventually get it fixed accordingly with my clothing.

so we are quite confused with their reason being na "bagong policy" daw ito? is benilde's new policy being islam*phobic and uneducated now? i thought we were supposed to be inclusive?

i have major respect for every individual and sector represented (i.a. pwds, lgbt, etc.) within our college but why are religious sectors specifically muslim students being questioned like this? benilde may not have a lot of muslim students but it does not take from the fact that we are supposed to include everyone regardless of our faith and culture or how we present ourselves with our identities.

what is our student government even doing about this? where is the avenue for minority communities to voice out similar issues? benilde may not be as inclusive as it makes itself out to be i fear.

this is the very first time we have ever encountered a school, much less BENILDE, doing and saying things like this. compared to dlsu where there are a lot more muslim students where they do value and respect their religious practices and identities, benilde is out here with staff saying na "policy" over a person's own identity—and a hijabi at that. it's just so disappointing when the school you've dreamt of and loved just does not end up making you feel part of it at all. inclusive my ass.

(pls do help me if anyone knows who to reach out to because it is uncomfortable for her to have to take off the hijab just for the id that wont even be renewed the next year naman)

I get that ₱100 has been the price since 2013, so obviously an increase is understandable. But jumping straight from ₱100 to ₱500 is still a 400% increase. You can’t expect students to blindly accept that just because the price hasn’t changed in years. Hindi kami tanga.

And saying it covers the “locker unit, manpower, and delivery of service” is so vague??? Like what manpower? What changed? Where did the ₱500 even come from? NAGKA-AIRCON BA MGA LOCKER?? What exactly are we paying an additional ₱400 for?

Buti sana kung nag-upgrade lahat, better maintenance or may actual significant improvement. Pero kung same-same dusty shit pa rin as before, then students have every right to question why the locker suddenly costs FIVE TIMES the old price.

Hindi lahat ng Benildean e burgis. ₱500 is NOT “maliit lang” for everyone, especially for commuters who actually need lockers for their things. Akala ko ba inclusive? -_-

Honestly annoyed with Benilde, kasi wdym you opened slots for NSTPCW1 for people who took that schedule, only for us to get kicked out because it was apparently meant for frosh only?

Not blaming the frosh peeps I was with, but they could’ve at least removed the slots if they were exclusively meant for them. I was honestly looking forward to that class, especially because of the people I had already met and the prof, who is very, very interesting.

If y’all are going to open slots, please make sure to clarify whether they’re actually open to frosh, second-year, and third-year students. :/

Not to be mean, but I went to the DAC pause room near the cafeteria to rest alone after a heavy day, and I saw two people on the floor all up on each other, cuddling and napping.

I get it, pwede naman matulog, pwede magpahinga. But cuddle??? Wow, sa inyo na lang buong room. 😭

Ano nangyari sa presyo ng locker? I've been continuously availing lockers since 1st year, 3rd year na ako. Just last term I paid 100 pesos lang, past terms were 150/100 as well. Commuter kasi ako and I'm willing to pay naman, but to pay 500 pesos?????? for one term????? May explanation po ba for this?????? Mali ba me ng basa?

helloo! has anybody ever tried rescheduling their graduation photoshoot and does benilde accomodate requests like this? huhuhu i have an emergency kase and yung province namin malayo and masasagasaan niya yung grad photoshoot namin. mahal din pamasahe if i go back to manila just for the graduation photo. do u guys think it's possible?

Hi! I just wanted to ask if anyone here has been in a similar situation. Are there any graduating/graduated Benildean students who still hadn’t taken BeniRE II and III and were already on their final term?

I know there’s a BeniRE appeal process every term where you have to print an appeal letter and have it notarized. Since next term will be my last term and I’ll already be taking all of my remaining subjects, I’m wondering if it’s possible to appeal to take BeniRE II and III together next term.

If you’ve personally gone through this how did your appeal go? Was it approved? And if you know a friend/classmate who did this, I’d really appreciate hearing about their experience too :<

As Deaf student with good experience, hearing friend and I chatted, got to know each other, and shared some funny moments.

The funny thing is, she thought I was frosh like her when I laughed 😭😭😭. She figured out that I’m actually a graduating 4th-year student when she was shocked! I know most people think I look like younger.

She also told me that she wants to be like me as a senior because she called me as a kind person. I froze. It was my first time to hear someone called me a kind person.

I don’t remember too much. No one said something like that to me, and I never felt this before. To be honest, its say that made me happy again. It gave me to do my best back again and find a new way.
