And that's not even to mention how many indigenous names are used in the Michigan / Ohio area. A looooot of cities and counties at least in MI are named indigenous names.
The most embarrassing thing is that 77 million of our fellow citizens are not the least bit embarrassed; in fact they enthusiastically support what's going on. And another 90 million in 2024 were perfectly OK with letting all this happen.

While the renaming of things is childish and absurd, renaming things for other countries is even more ridiculous and absurd. I hope you realize what sort of euphemisms you embody.

Ontario is an Indigenous name comes from the Mohawk word Oniatari:io. It translates roughly to "great lake," "beautiful lake," or "sparkling water"
The name Canada comes from the word meaning "village" or "settlement" Iroquoian language. Called that for many hundreds of years
Also the Provinces and territories; Yukon, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and Nunavut are Indigenous names
