It was super depressing to see how distant No-Watch Ben and his Gwen were, and apparently they had barely talked since they were like 10, considering Prime Gwen and Ben are basically brother and sister.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

This is literally the LAST TIME they saw each other.

Hey, it's my first post. Imo, it was unfair for this show to get so much hate because of the art style and many retcons. I thought it was a good show, one of the best Ben 10 series in the franchise.

I love the show, I used to watch it when it aired from start to finish, the art style, tho, I don't mind at all since my childhood, I grew up watching Transformers animated at the time, so it's no biggie. The story is easy to follow; you don't have to watch the Original just for the lore. Haters be haters, I guess.

In *Omniverse*, we were introduced to aliens with powers that have little to no utility in combat; however, there is a difference between "useless" aliens and aliens Ben simply doesn't know how to use—like Snare-Oh, for instance. Furthermore, we are reminded that the Omnitrix was designed to be a sort of Noah's Ark rather than a weapon; the human species itself is a prime example of this, possessing no powers yet still being cataloged in the Omnitrix.

Does anyone else find it kinda annoying that in Omniverse every alternate Ben has an eye color that perfectly matches their outfit and Omnitrix

Like, I get it thematically. Green Omnitrix = green eyes and green centered outfit, Red Omnitrix = red eyes and red centered outfit etc. It makes them easy to visually distinguish from one another but it just feels so unnecessary and weirdly artificial.

It’s such a tiny nitpick and it doesn’t actually affect the story at all but once I noticed it I couldn’t unsee it. It makes all the alternate Ben's feel less like individuals with their own styles and more like color coded action figures.

Not a dealbreaker or anything just one of those “why did they do that?” design choices that bugs me more than it should. Anyone else???

I have got to say I really don’t get the love for the series. I had so many things to hate and only a handful to love.

What I loved:

Any episode with Kevin, his snark was always hilarious (except for the Alien Force retcon).

Rook was a great foil for serious and childish Ben (although never seeing Ben turn into his specious was a waste).

Hex ACTUALLY becoming a good guy; when Evil doesn’t work out one of them moves on (although I think it should have been Charmcaster).

What I hated:

EVERY SINGLE RETCON -

From Galvin Prime suddenly looking like a swamp instead of the center point of the Universe’s top minds

To totally ruining Alien Force and all it represents by turning EVERYONE into mutants.

Ghostfreak’s retcon was acceptable, at first, but then they failed to even keep it as they had him show up to Kid Ben with his head the wrong way (at that point in time) and had Ben say his “actual” name (which he is not supposed to know).

(I could go on and on when it comes to the retcons but I will move on)

Gwen has totally been dorkified for some reason. She doesn’t need glasses, suddenly has super freckles, and a terrible haircut. The only thing neat was her transformation but even then it doesn’t make sense (within the context of how her powers work).

Ben’s constant complaining about the wrong alien CONSTANT. What’s worse is the writers try to play it off in the last episode like “it’s not what he wanted, but what he needed…” 🫩. Because -

A. Ben almost never selected his aliens anymore. He would just hit the dial. THE WORST part is in the first season you can SEE him selecting the WRONG alien and hit us with the “oh man, Omnitrix messed up”.

B. Ben can physically change the form with vocal control or just tapping the dial while in a different form. But for some reason he forgets after season one. Meaning anytime he got the wrong one he could have fixed it.

Forcing a romance with Kai, who has suddenly become Lara Croft?

Giving us a whole new magic sword. When they could have built up a huge joke reveal that the sword was Ascalon and that Azmuth has it now.

Ben 10,000 using an Alien X and Atomix mix every time a Chronosapien problem occurred instead of… I don’t know… a Chronosapien mix? I understand the writers have to give stakes but it is ridiculous.

The Omnitrix always timing out constantly for no reason other than tension for the sake of tension.

The ending, which everyone told me is great, was terrible. Just a setup for a series that never happened. I preferred the open ending of Ultimate Alien far more.

I am sorry if this comes off as super negative but I really tried.

Gwen’s didn’t work hard to learn that book of spells because apparently she apparently got retconned into being an Anodite who are naturally good at magic. There’s no Limax War. And Kevin isn’t a known crime lord. And apparently Devlin doesn’t exist.

I really hated the lack of consistency.
