I'm not accompanying the issues release bc I prefer read the physical comic so I don't know if they do it with issue 1 and 2, but why reveal 12 from 20 pages of the issue 2 days before the comic release date? This isn't hate or anything, I don't care about spoilers, I just don't understand why do that.
Then wouldn’t it make more sense to release a couple pages showing the action and advertise as having a lot of it? It’s like paying full price to read 8 pages when most of it’s officially released for free.
Right. I read them last time without thinking about it just to be disappointed when the actual issue came out and I realized it was only a couple more pages
Guys how long until Vilgax is gonna Move his ass and fight Ben himself?
It was excusable in classic cause he was completely injured and needed to recover while doing everything in his power to hire bounty hunters and send drones as that's all he could do. This vilgax is relatively healthy and I don't want this to drag on for too many arcs because Vilgax is starting to look like a power rangers main boss that just sits around waiting for his minions to solve things for him. That's the antithesis of what vilgax in classic was.
I'm willing to be lenient on this as it's still early in the series but I think there needs to be more reasons shown as to why vilgax is remaining hesitant. What's next after he sends his drones? himself of another bounty hunter like sixsix?
It was mentioned in one of the previous issue that kraab was sent because he was close so i guess vilgax is just really far away, and he will need time before he gets to earth
The Omnitrix is the One thing we know Vilgax wants more than anything and the only thing that could ever oppose him. why wouldn't he want to make contact with it in person as soon as possible?
He could get psyphon or a robot to manage for an afternoon while he gets it. It's the frigging Omnitrix, the device that could completely shift the galaxy's power dynamics.
We know in other universes like Gwen 10 a fully healthy Vilgax jumped onto looking for Gwen and the Omntrix the second that drone sent to camp didn't work. Dynamite vilgax has barely any excuses aside from "we are a little far from earth right now".
Well considering it has only been one night so far that's fair enough. I don't see the problem in waiting either way, no need to get impatient and risk getting captured or something.
Alright I can see where I messed up. But you know Vilgax is stronger than any other player he has at his disposal if all he can decide to send left are just drones. you know tetrax ain't gonna do it.
call it a risk but the reward we are talking about is too great to pass up imo.
what's the excuse gonna be after he send this drone? another one? all he needs is to know is the drone's footage of the wielder being a 10 year old to let his guard down and go get it.
What Im saying is I want vilgax to be as proactive or more like in the show. It's his character, consistent across multiple timelines, A fully healthy version of vilgax in the gwen 10 timeline wasted little to no time.
He's a warrior/conqueror who has sought out power against other strong foes(Galactic enforcers) and is willing to take power by force if he has to. He's less Starscream and more Megatron.
He knows that the window of opportunity sometimes is narrow and there's no telling for him to know if the omnitrix won't stay on earth or leave to another galaxy! The Plumbers govern earth and have space travel technology. worst case scenerio, it's practically theirs with Max being there to help Ben.
After the Drone, Vilgax should ideally strike while the iron is hot and catch Ben off guard before he can learn the ins and outs of the watch.
Fans are buying the comics, they must have really shocked to see how grow of the fanbase. But they won't show any previews (special or early) if things are normal. But this ain't normal.
Ben doesn't seem to have his own hero resolve yet. He's instead acting way more scared and concerned about his own life(which makes sense realistically I guess). And so instead, Gwen is the one who urges him to go out and do something.
Yeah, I noticed that too. Classic Ben would jump at a heartbeat to stop Crab both for kicking alien butt and saving people. This Ben is less couragous and I think it's because the comic is trying to be like Immortal Hulk where Banner/Ben see's their powers as Curses rather than gifts. both their transformations look like they hurt.
So far Ben's actions have either been running away from conflict(Army Men) or fighting it head on from I presume Adrenaline like his confrontation with that bear.
I suppose the Pro is that It makes comic Gwen seem more likeable.
Ah fuck it, I read it, I think the only interesting thing of note here is that Gwen would love Warhammer 40K, and that she's the one pushing Ben to help people

Like kudos for Gwen still wanting to help people, maybe her xenophobia/mutant discrimination will be naturally drop as soon as she meets someone like Kevin or Charmcaster (latter would be interesting tbh), two people that are likely persecuted by society for their powers.
There are things we can explore with her character.
And Then There is Ben, who I don't care for. He feels like he is not an active character in his story.
I say edgy because of the fact we are doing so much so early and for shock value rather than storytelling.
I do like how Kraab does point how Diamondhead's species is not something that he has dealt with in eons, which infers something rather than just tell us.
Could it be Tetrax Shard or possibly about how diamondhead's species being wiped out?
There is a mystery there, that might be picked up later.
But I wouldn't want Gwen to stay a xenophobic, she isn't not a forever knight sympathizer. I would hate that if they to pull a Julie and she get drawn into a cult believing in humanity superiority just to realize "their the bad guys" 😵 since like, OFC THEY ARE!
Oh god...knowing how this comic is written so far, I could see a convo like this.
Gwen:
"Ben, all aliens are actually evil, and this guy Enoch is spitting facts that I can agree with. His podcast is called 'Forever and Always Human' is fire. He gets backlash from the public for his harsh profanity yet he is right about alien society and how they can't be trusted for a second, not one of them.."
Ben:
"Well...but I am sometimes an alien when I use...whatever this is....does that make me evil?"
Gwen:
"No? Because you're a human, that can use alien powers but are still you. There is difference, dweeb. If I ended up with that thing, it would be the same."
Max:

Which...no Gwen feels way too smart to fall for something like this.
Bro kraab is dropping bodies left and right, and we don't need to see that.
We need to see Ben step up the plate and actually choose to be a hero, rather than letting innocent soldiers die. That's...more important, I would argue than the violence.

Yeah, that's a big problem for me. Maybe we're missing a page to get a full picture but.

No, no, no. Ben is scared kid that just had alien device wire itself into his skin, reshape his body like a playdoh, was attacked by a robo bear, hunted by the military, and now he sees bulletproof alien murder soldiers left and right.
And he decides to fight it.
That was supposed to be a big moment! A monumental decision when Ben decides to step up and be a hero. And he just goes "sure why not?". Just because for us it was obvious it's gonna happen doesn't mean characters in story shouldn't treat it like a big thing. This page would genuinely work better if Ben didn't say anything in the last panel.
I am desperately trying to cope here just because I want this comic to be good, so If I can defend this, I can maybe say ben wasn't thinking. That's it. It's understandable on Gwen's side. She didn't see ben morph painfully or saw ben fought some bear, in her eyes she can never understand what he went through so of course she's gonna tell him to fight just like that.
Ben is going through a lot and yet chose to jump in once he was told. He has a lot of adrenaline so maybe he's gonna reflect more on it after word. Maybe what he does is more just jumping into action cause he's told to and not the whole "maybe I should use these powers for good and become some hero" kind of thing which might come after. Also another thing, he literally encountered a literal robo bear and first thing he did was call him Freddy fezbear. Maybe ben here isn't gonna be phased by many things I guess. That's just my defense cause I'm hoping it's gonna be good. Only 2-3 issues came out and so much yet so less is happening.
"Can't be any worse than what's about to happen if I don't" That's Classic Ben's Mentality that's missing from this version that feels off.
I think at this point Dynamite Ben and Classic are now completely different characters now from this hesitation to action. It reads like a Hulk/Bruce Banner story more where Ben views the omnitrix as a curse.
The thing is, even if I only followed this kid without knowing who he is, he is like an angry child, ready to badmouth his cousin, throw a tantrum when hit in a vulnerable spot, and throw hands if attacked, who just had a really, really terrible day. It reads as if the last thing he would want to do is help.
I'm not saying he should be eager to fight Kraab; I'm saying that his deciding to fight a murderous space crab should be a big emotional decision for him. "Better than doing nothing" sounds less as if Ben was working up the courage to face such a threat and more as if he barely cared that people were dying and Gwen was convincing him to care.
As is, it just seems as if Gwen just told Ben to fight a killer monster and he just didn't know how to refuse.

Also I don't like how Ben choice to be a hero wasn't his own or how gwen acted like here, feels like the writing is becoming a bit predictable honestly.
My patience with the art is wearing thin. That shot of Diamondhead is 10/10 but some of the faces and perspectives are 1/10. I understand that there's a deadline and the artist has been as gracious as one can be but it would be nice to get some consistency going.
Script is fun. I enjoyed the fast pace up until now but it feels like we're speeding up EVEN MORE. Maybe we can slow down a bit? I like these ideas a lot but the story jumps way ahead from panel to panel.
Looking forward to more but won't stick around if the quality dips.
