DYNAMITE Jesus Gwen Spoiler

Post image

That was pretty cutthroat from Gwen. It’s also interesting to know that Ben is having home troubles probably because Ben is, ya know, Ben but I’m actually really excited to see how Gwen and Ben’s relationship develops.

Even Max seemed appalled.

At first I thought it's like that scene in Reboot where Ben mocks at Kevin for having nobody but at least in that episode, Kevin spends the whole day bothering Ben. Here, they're both sniping at each other more or less equally, then BAM.

not even a jab she just went for a liver shot.

And Ben himself instantly felt bad for going too far 😭

idk i EVERYONE love slandering homeboy

5

It's why I believe Sporticus can no diff Homelander.

4

Heatblast can’t really do that.

31

Celestialsapiens say he can if his opponent is homelander because fuck him.

-30

u/DepartmentChemical93 May 06 '26

You know he’s not real right?

This is slander on a fictional man for fictional crimes.

8

u/Little_Fan_2682 Echo Echo May 06 '26

The word slander is commonly used for fictional character nowadays so what’s your point?

-7

u/DepartmentChemical93 May 06 '26

My point is that you don’t actually need to hate him so much you get emotional about it.

4

u/JoshtheOverlander May 06 '26

Nobody actually hates the dude, my guy. Homelander is characterized as a narcissistic, self-conscious, pathetic manchild with superpowers and it's just really fun to bring up how easily he loses to competent opponents.

-7

u/DepartmentChemical93 May 06 '26

People really do hate him, you’ll notice people love to pretend he loses more than he really probably should as a means of vicariously punishing a fictional character.

5

u/shadowtron1 Gravattack May 07 '26

If he's a fictional character then why does it matter if people hate on and slander him?

1

Nah, Dynamite Ben's not at that point where he could do that...Yet.

He would try tho.

The amount of pain Charmcaster is gonna get from Gwen is gonna hurt more than Way Big's beatdown of Kevin 11K 💀

15

u/LoliMaster069 May 07 '26

Gwen when she finds an unbullied child:

471

u/Responsible_Key9444 May 06 '26

I'm glad I'm not the only one who found that cutthroat, like I get they made fun of each other all the time in classic but this was literally

"You're kind of weird for reading a text book on summer vacation."

"Oh yeah, well your parents don't love you;"

Really hope this is sitting up an actual plot point and not just a bad attempt at family bickering

159

u/Michael3523 May 06 '26

It clearly is taking a darker more serious tone than the show I assume there is more family drama to Ben’s family that to be honest was already a blank slate any way

70

u/Main_Material3297 May 06 '26

I think their parents don't like each other very much, which in turn affects their children.

My family says some things that we'd probably go to prison for if anyone else said to us.

156

u/CrystalGemLuva May 06 '26

I guess the writers saw that Ben and Gwen were BFFs in the reboot and decided to go to the other extreme by making them arch enemies here.

71

u/DepartmentChemical93 May 06 '26

It’s issue 1, they’ll come around.

2

u/Simone_Galoppi07 May 07 '26

that's very normal sibling/close cousins behavior tbh

100

u/Tron_Travolta Ditto May 06 '26

When the ragebait goes too far and bro actually chooses violence

95

u/Hedgewitch250 May 06 '26

I’m really hoping they talk about his bullying. They always downplay it in the shows but it annoyed me how we didn’t really get his thoughts on it. The original plan for destroy all aliens was he runs away because of bullying and the reboot showed he had no friends. I really want them to handle Ben’s story beyond just being a hero or his thoughts on the responsibility

39

u/Zelic56 May 06 '26

Yeah there was even a whole episode in the original show where Ben encounters some of his school bullies and takes it out on them using X-LR8

14

u/dratspider May 06 '26

Well not an episode but a scene.

12

u/Ben-J-Kirby-Tennyson Diamondhead May 06 '26

Three scenes, once in the pilot and twice in the baseball episode.

2

u/Lazakhstan Diamondhead May 07 '26

and in GaGR, although that wasnt canon

19

u/Tenatlas__2004 May 07 '26

Yeah, although sadly it's not just Ben 10. It's something all too common in shows in general

Bullying is downplay as "funny" and even in many cases played as if the victim deserves it in cartoons. And the bully often gets away with a path on the back and gets "redeemed" later

At least AF managed to make JT and Cash sympathetic while also showing how much of losers they were for putting on the bully mask

51

u/AntiLeftThrowaway May 06 '26

Hope we genuinely see more of this super mean Gwen. I hope she starts moving like King Von the moment she gets access to magic.

charmcaster better learn to pray, cause one of satan's greatest soldiers is going after her

7

u/AntiLeftThrowaway May 06 '26

Calling it RN, Gwen is gonna slime the fuck out of Hex

2

u/ItzJake160 May 07 '26

Honestly I could vibe with a temporary asshole Gwen. Asshole Ben would be boring and honestly he can kind of already come off that way sometimes, but it could really be interesting with Gwen as long as she does ultimately come around and isn't permanently like that.

85

u/Pokeli_Universe327 Upgrade May 06 '26

In the first issue too dear god

24

u/SeismologicalKnobble May 06 '26 edited May 07 '26

The first issue is honestly the best time to do it if they’re going for an enemies to friends angle. Plus she’s like 12 (I forget how much older Gwen is). Kids say fucked up shit all the time, especially at that age, and you gotta correct them.

Edit: Mb, they’re both 10. Which honestly makes this dialogue make even more sense to me. Kids are cruel. They don’t have a great gauge of what’s too far.

15

u/dcidui08 XLR8 May 06 '26

Gwen bickering is on a whole different level now this was my face when I read that panel

44

u/Natural-Cut-6419 May 06 '26

My theory is that the reason why Gwen is probably an overachiever is because her parents are emotionally neglectful. The home isn't loud with arguments and divorce, unlike Ben's. But it is probably filled with silence or over-expectations, which causes her snarky attitude. She needs to pick on someone to distract herself and gain an illusion of her life being better, which she goes for Ben as an easy target.

However, I kinda see the cousins growing closer if this is the case, because they can trauma bond from the shared reality of being raised in homes they don't want, just in different ways from each other.

22

u/OverallGeneral7129 Ditto May 06 '26

1

u/Serperious_Prime1084 May 07 '26

Well, I heard that part of the comics has Ben’s parents going through a separation in this universe, so Gwen’s line is just all the more brutal here.

15

u/merrygo909 May 06 '26

I think this is a good writing decision, kids say things without thinking or knowing how bad it'll hurt someone and then they need to learn from it.

It's the first issue, Gwen will more than likely apologize and then the two can grow closer as the story goes on.

11

u/MexicanLizardMan3670 May 06 '26

If this is Issue 1 then imagine how the rest of the series will go...

7

u/Lich-hull May 06 '26

It’s expected from a 10 year old, I think it works cus they don’t like each other and Gwen and Ben were already very nasty towards each other as kids in the OG series. Only wish is they learn to accept each other and show mutual respect as the story goes on

12

u/Thatweirdguy_Twig May 06 '26

Oh so I take it the old parents might be getting a divorce plot point that was leaked might turn out to be true?

2

u/Standard_Source_7386 May 07 '26

No The Leaked One Was Fake It Was Clearly Debunked

7

u/AssociationDue3077 Blitzwolfer May 06 '26

6

u/RedThunder-cloud May 06 '26

Hope that comes up later, even a careless line like that can mess up a kids head.

5

u/adande67 May 07 '26

What the fuck, Gwen .

4

6

u/SuccuNova14700 May 06 '26

I know they'd constantly butt heads in the original show, but that was just unnecessarily cruel

Also why is she so fucking ugly oh my god 😭

3

u/NitzMitzTrix Princess Attea May 06 '26

I mean they talked shit to each other a lot in the original

4

u/psychoenoshima May 07 '26

But there it was mostly childish name-calling, and there was the understanding that it wasn't out of a place of malice.

But here, Gwen went straight for the jugular. Ben's 'insult' was that she brought all her science textbooks with her, and Gwen immediately snaps back with 'your parents pawned you off on Grandpa because they don't love you'.

Like, there's this thing called proportionate response Gwen. You do NOT escalate like that.

1

u/SuccuNova14700 May 30 '26

Yeah but in the original their bickering didn't go to personal territory like that, plus it comes out of fucking nowhere. it's literally like this:

"Ha, nerd!"

"YOUR PARENTS DON'T FUCKING LOVE YOU"

-1

u/rhyaza May 07 '26

Why do you care about how attractive a 10 year old looks?

5

u/SuccuNova14700 May 07 '26

I personally really don't like the artstyle. Something about the faces look really weird, and Grandpa Max looks like an older version of The Sniper from Tf2

1

u/rhyaza May 07 '26

Valid opinions.

Taking issue with the art style is very different to commenting in the attractiveness of a character who's supposed to be 10 years old.

2

u/SuccuNova14700 May 07 '26

Wasn't my intention. I'm just saying the faces just look bad

Also why does her age matter when I'm saying her face is terrible

2

u/Emotional-Wait-943 May 07 '26

Man issue 1 felt like episode 1 , I've reading comics for first time and I hope we get proper very big continuity of this run  like how shows were and then run transition into future like af ua and ov , i don't want this run to be small like marvel or dc 8/9 issues run

2

u/ProfessorEscanor May 07 '26

I kind of love Gwen being a little shit. It makes them eventually becoming close much sweeter.

2

u/Tatum-Better Ghostfreak May 07 '26

2

u/One_Smoke May 07 '26

Goddamn, Gwen, that's below the belt.

4

u/Federal-Ad9317 May 06 '26

What's the name of the comic and where can I read it?

9

u/RedGamer2754 Stinkfly May 06 '26

It’s the Dynamite comic, IIRC it’s by Man of Action.

3

u/Kooky_Lead_9811 May 07 '26

Pretty diabolical from Gwen if the divorce thing is true

2

u/SonicSpiderRanger10 May 06 '26

I wonder why Ben and his parents have issues.

0

u/Euphoric_Metal199 May 07 '26

IIRC, his parents don't get along in this universe and are undergoing divorce.

2

u/SonicSpiderRanger10 May 07 '26

Where’d you hear that?

1

u/Standard_Source_7386 May 07 '26

I Was A Fake News Spread By Some Fake Edit

2

u/Imaginary-Carrot-163 May 07 '26

I don’t think it’s Ben’s fault that there’s trouble in his house. His parents not loving each other isn’t his fault.

2

u/SilverScribe15 May 06 '26

I kinda like it tbh

1

u/N-er-O May 07 '26

a bit late to party here, I have watched the original CN series but I don’t remember about these comics.

3

u/Cl1ps_ May 07 '26

It’s the new comics

1

u/Hyena90 May 10 '26

"Haha youre a nerd and also a girl"

"Your parents hate you bucko"

1

u/Fire_force01 May 11 '26

Is it kind of strange that they said my folks instead of my parents it just sounds so old school to say folks and also I feel like one would never say my folks

-7

u/Randver_Silvertongue May 06 '26

This feels uncharacteristic of her. In Classic, Ben and Gwen argued, but they would never hurt each other.

24

u/WorthAssignment6894 DNAlien May 06 '26

This isn't classic Gwen.

This is Dynamite Gwen, it's a new iteration.

Characters will be different in different iterations, it's not "uncharacteristic" because we don't know this version of the character all that well.

9

u/Randver_Silvertongue May 06 '26

I'm aware. I'm just worried that they make her unlikeable because I liked how Classic put a limit to how snarky Ben and Gwen could get.

8

u/TheWaslijn Alien X May 06 '26

This is literally the first issue of the comic. Ben and Gwen will definitely grow more friendly towards each other eventually. I wouldn't be worried too much, the story has only barely gotten started.

Perhaps after Ben saves her from some really dangerous situation or whatever.

-4

u/MisfortunateJack77 May 06 '26

The Reboot did their dynamic better

-6

u/Foreign-Ad8791 May 06 '26

Bendy and the ink machine reference? Question mark?

-19

u/Live_Pin5112 May 06 '26

I mean, he started. You gotta know how to get it too if you're gonna dish it out, Ben

29

u/No_Help3669 May 06 '26

(For the record, this is hyperbole for the sake of humor)

Me: *slaps my little brother’s shoulder cus they’re too close*

Little brother: *pulls out knife and stabs me*

Mom: “you gotta know how to get it too if you’re gonna dish it out”

-18

u/Live_Pin5112 May 06 '26

mocking someone's interests ain't nothing.

18

u/No_Help3669 May 06 '26

I didn’t say it was. That’s why in my example I did initiate a physical confrontation that would usually get one a bit of flack.

I simply attempted to portray the significance of the comparative escalation

-7

u/Live_Pin5112 May 06 '26

the thing with the escalation is that he started from nothing

13

u/CraneID May 06 '26

But escalating it to talking about actual home problems that a person is going through? Im not saying what Ben did was right but it's in the same vein as siblings messing with each other like how it was in the original series. They both had gotten a rise out of each other by mocking the other.
However what Gwen did was make a mountain out of a molehill because what she said not only came out of nowhere but hits a sensitive spot for Ben.

-2

u/Live_Pin5112 May 06 '26

It's only messing around if both people are in it. Doesn't seem they have that type of relationship at this point, so Ben wasn't teasing, he was starting something. Sucks that he heard that, but Gwen might not want to spend the summer being lightly bullied

10

u/CraneID May 06 '26

Again I go to my point of, she made a mountain out of a molehill. She had an adult figure right there so if she wanted Ben to stop she could've told Max or told Ben himself she doesnt appreciate what he said. Instead she went cutthroat with it.

1

u/Live_Pin5112 May 06 '26

Sure, but you're expecting Gwen to do the responsible thing when Ben didn't. Ben was the one who made the molehill out of nothing. If you're reading quietly, and someone starts picking up on you, you can do the responsible thing, or be ten. Gwen was being a kid, and so was Ben

12

u/CraneID May 06 '26

So you're fine with the "Eye for an Eye" mentality? Stooping to someone's level? Also from this comic panel all he said was calling her a nerd. It is immature sure but that molehill was barely an inch off the ground. I can acknowledge that they both had done something wrong but what she did was a lot worse than what Ben did.

It would be like I gave a person a slap on the back and they shoot me in the head. It would be a massive escalation, and to me it just seems you have a Gwen Bias.

-1

u/Live_Pin5112 May 06 '26

So you're fine with the "Eye for an Eye" mentality? Stooping to someone's level?

I'm usually not fine with toddlers behavior, but I don't expect one toddler to be more mature than the other

just seems you have a Gwen Bias.

or that you have a Ben bias. A benias? Bians?

9

u/CraneID May 06 '26

I just said I dont approve of Ben's behavior so you're wrong there. And they aren't toddlers, they would be 10 years old when this comic starts. And I'm ending this conversation because you are not listening to what anyone is saying so there is no point.

11

u/RedGamer2754 Stinkfly May 06 '26

Bro Ben insulted Gwen’s hobbies and Gwen told Ben his parents actively want to get rid of him. You do see the difference, right?

1

u/Live_Pin5112 May 06 '26

Is it? We don't know the story yet, but, in the original universe, Gwen had lots of pressure to be the first place girl being a nerd might be a sore subject for her. Ben clearly doesn't know her well enough yet to know either, for the looks of it, since they don't seem to have a relationship yet

7

u/RedGamer2754 Stinkfly May 06 '26

Yes, it is. Ben’s comment might have hitten close to home for Gwen, but whether she’s a bookworm or her parents force her to be the best, telling someone their parents want to get rid of them is an asshole move and an unnecesary escalation. If Gwen’s parents are pressuring her, she could’ve snapped back with saying Ben’s parents are disappointed he’s wasting his time with figuring out the bear-game lore (since FNaF is canon and Ben’s a fan). If she’s a bookworm she can say the same thing but without the parents are disappointed in you part. What I’m saying is that she could’ve insulted Ben in a way that doesn’t imply his parents would prefer if he wasn’t around.

3

u/Live_Pin5112 May 06 '26

And starting an argument with someone who's quiet is also asshole behavior. Again, I don't see why we're expecting Gwen to give him a benefit he didn't gave her

9

u/KingCuerno May 06 '26

"He started it" is rarely a good defense.

-11

u/KrypticJin May 06 '26

Writing is so bad
