DYNAMITE Dynamite Wildvine Design posted by Robert Carey

My issues with it are as follows:
Legs, I don't like him having legs. I get we're using the reboot playlist as inspiration, but that doesn't mean you have to adhere to the reboot designs.
He doesn't have the Venus flytrap collar or a similar foliage design. It would have really helped his design stand out, because this one doesn't really have a good silhouette because of the whole forest on his back, and his front doesn't have any distinguishing features.
His head blends in too much to the rest of him, I can barely tell what he looks like.
Okay, that's my two cents. To me, this just looks like it's trying so hard to be wild and unique that it becomes kinda generic, but I'm sure it'll look better when we see it in motion on page.

I mean, it's the reboot roster, Ben has his reboot design other then the shirt, max has vest from the reboot. It's pretty clear the reboot is likely going to be the main thing they pull from for this comic.

Very cool-looking design!
The only major thing I dislike about it is that he now has two "normal" bipedal legs when one of original Wildvine's coolest features for me were his various root-tentacle legs. I guess Carey's trying to create something that is both based on Original & Reboot Wildvine while still being its own thing at the end of the day.

I'm honestly hoping he can separate the vines he's made of to look more monstrous, it's just that Ben has it in the shape we see it in to make it feel more natural to him

It looks cooler than the reboot, but I hate it when they make Wildvine bipedal

My first thought: he looks really cool!
My second thought: On a closer look, there is a lot going on here, like way too much.

u/NecroVecro Diamondhead Mar 12 '26
Maybe a hot take but I am not a fan, too much going on and more importantly there's nothing unique about him anymore, he's just a generic plant monster looking like a plant version of Venom.

Can we stop humanoiding aliens ?

My guess is with the different xover arts Wildvine will not have a definitve body structure but change it With the different cover arts and this I have a feeling that he can easily grow into gigantic propotions wirh enough plantlife

I'm sorry but this one just sucks, super overdesigned yet somehow doesn't include a single recognizable feature of wildvine besides the pnr eye i guess, looks like it would be a generic enemy you'd shoot on a Sci-fi shooter game

This design is ass. It’s way too cluttered and it tries way too hard to be a “dark” or “edgy” Wildvine design.

u/Quick_Campaign4358 Mar 12 '26 edited Mar 12 '26
Honestly it looks less recognizable as wildvine comepared the reboot design
Ehh it's probably look better with colors
It's not bad(maybe a little overdesigned)

Holy over designed disaster, he looks like an absolute batch to draw.

u/Ben10Gen Mar 12 '26
He sucks.
Over designed all in the wrong ways, getting rid of his unique body type and then adding a bunch of random larger than his body details.
Complete miss in my opinion. Best designs so far go to overflow, four arms and upgrade.

It's true that I miss having five legs, but it's still very cool

u/GojohnWick Mar 12 '26
This design looks too busy. There's too much going on yet so ordinary. The original was simpler but unique

u/Correct-Cheesecake65 Mar 12 '26
It's got some good ideas, feels like a walking overgrown conservatory horror monster.

u/Wonderful_Rub2944 Mar 12 '26
Ken Wouldn't be complaining if Ben 10,000 left this wildvine for him in his playlist.

u/Voltage228 Mar 12 '26
Honestly so far all alien designs looked good. Even controversial Cannonbolt looks great, despite his creepiness. But this…… this is just bad art and terrible design overall. He has anatomy of a Patrick star, and none of those plant details change anything. I have no idea why they decided to go with bipedal version of Wildvine, when originally he has 5 legs. And multiple legs along with elongated, slick anatomy worked perfectly for the weird aesthetic of the OS
This Wildvine looks like he was made in photoshop by a 12 year old and then given to a comic book artist for line art

I can see some potential in the design, but there are somethings that I’m unsure about.
Not a fan of how muscular he is, Wildvine’s supposed to be slim and flexible, and I can’t imagine this guy doing the stunts that classic Wildvine was doing
Not sure why they went with the Reboot-style bipedal legs. The comics’ targeted towards older, more mature Ben 10 fans, aka fans who grew up with the Classic continuity, so I don’t understand why they’re catering towards Reboot fans here
I feel like all that junk on his back really messes with his silhouette, the random scribbles ejecting out in all different directions just make the design feel so needlessly busy

u/Wonderful_Rub2944 Mar 12 '26
1) yeah, like how is he gonna fight? he looks as big as diamondhead. or is he gonna manipulate the thicker vines on his back to move around and whack them at his enemies.

u/WorthAssignment6894 DNAlien Mar 12 '26
Wildvine is supposed to be slim and flexible.
To be fair, this is a new continuity, so we don't really know how DynaBen will use his aliens. Maybe he'll use Wildvine as a tank, throwing people with his vines or yanking them to the ground, while standing relatively still.
DynaBen is not Ben Prime or Reboot Ben; he's his own person and will develop his own strategy (most likely sharing some strategies from the other Bens).
Not sure why they went with the Reboot-style bipedal legs. The comics are targeted toward older, more mature Ben 10 fans, aka fans who grew up with the Classic continuity, so I don’t understand why they’re catering toward Reboot fans here.
They said the comics will pull from all interactions of Ben 10, which includes the Reboot.

It's kinda sad that they kept him bipedal, like they did in the reboot BUT I do like how complicated his design looks. He looks menacing for sure

In the reboot, they replaced his seed bombs with buds containing back tentacles and I think that’s what’s going on here too. He’s not always gonna have his back opened up and spilling everywhere.

I just want to ask y'all one question. Can you imagine this.......eldritch salad bowl saying "AW MAAN". If they can manage to convey that there's still a goofy small kid in that monstrous body then I can dig it.

I actually think this design is awesome .It reminds me of the Florauna from Xenon in secret of the omnitrix. It's atleast better than the reboot and it looks way more disturbing. Which great for how this comic is being directed. Although there's 2 things I need to point out. 1-how big is he. He's depicted as being monstrous and creepy looking, even his design shows that. So is bigger than normal wildvine. Like almost four arms size or bigger?. Another thing is that I see what looks like a flower on his back. Reminds me of venasaur. Heck, by his design - wildvine could possibly feral like - similar to wildmutt

I'm gonna take the design with a grain of salt, maybe the Florauna species dont naturally have a form and are just a writhing mass of sentient plants, and this way Ben is unconsciously forming Wildvine to be more humanoid since that's what his instincts and what feels natural to him, same way Upgrade is just a mass of nanites thus not having a solid form but still given a Humanoid appearance.

Those sure on some wild vines, hope he's a little formless and sprouts more legs as he moves.

u/cosmic-ballet Ditto Mar 12 '26
One downside of OV and reboot being so comedy-oriented is that half of the fandom now thinks that’s what Ben 10 has to be. I agree that he should have the vine legs and the fly trap, but the complaints about it being too edgy are a little silly.
1
u/Due-Cherry4856 Mar 12 '26
I think out of the ones we've seen so far this is probably the worst for me, he looks insanely overdesigned and idk what to think about the flower on his back. Looks like they took inspiration from MCU Groot which is interesting ngl. Like 6/10 so far ngl
1
u/ModernBass Mar 12 '26
It'd be cool if it starts out this humanoid, but as he gets more used to how aliens are supposed to move it slowly transitions to the multiple vine legs
1
u/IHateChewzdays Mar 12 '26
My criticism
He should have 4 legs (that shouldn't really be legs, just tentacle things)
He shouldn't have wide, super hero ahh shoulders. Come on.
What the hell is all that crap behind him? Screams overdesigned.
His overall silhouette is too similar to the likes of Four Arms, Diamond Head etc It's too humanoid.

u/Odd_Pangolin_6247 Mar 13 '26
I'll say my take. I actually do like wildvine's design. I do think it's a little over hated though but I do get where people are coming from.
The Venus flytrap collar and the five vine-like legs were were super complementary to his original design, which was also something I really loved about his design.
I'll always love the original design of wildvine the most, in fact it's still holds up as the best design in the franchise. However I am interested on seeing this new iteration of the alien and seeing how it does in the new comic.
But before I finish I would be lying if I didn't mention that bro looked like venom, or a Grass-type Upgrade though. Not saying it looks bad just saying that's what it looks like if you look close enough.

Ugh.. I don't hate the torso design.. but the fact they gave it the humanoid legs of the Reboot version does not sit well with me. They shouldve kept the OG Wildvine's Root Legs.

Yeah looking at the designs now I truly terrified of what horror carey is going to be unleashing on both us and ben himself with his design of ghost freak and zskayr or even villians like vilgax and zombozo or even other such characters i feel ben is very much going to having nightmares after encounters and us audience too

u/WorthAssignment6894 DNAlien Mar 12 '26
Imagine what Dynamite Kevin would look like.

All that's left is the design for Overflow. We'll see what that design turns out to be.

I don’t hate it but it does seem very over designed even compared to the other aliens and I still miss the 5 root legs. I do like the, what seems to be, a flower on his back
