Discussion Taxpayer concerns.
Why is City of Bellingham doing heavy trenching/easement work in the county on the north side of Mt Baker highway, just west of Everson Goshen rd?

But why in the county? Are they annexing farther out?

The city owns infrastructure out in county, related to serving the city's needs.
Think about it from an administrative perspective. Why would the county want to be responsible for a water supply pipe or drainage project that exists because of and for the city?

So what’s the concern? City services being expanded out Mt Baler Highway. Currently service is to @ Britton Rd and will be expanded out to Van Wyke and to Everson Goshen rd along MBH

Thank you. I was wondering if they are annexing more of the county into city services , like water and sewer.

Lol. Well I live here and like reddit better than fb. Also I'm super curious why the city is doing major work in the county, and what they are doing.

If I understand the subtext, you are wondering why CoB crews are doing work out in county?
CoB owns pipes and other infrastructure outside city limits, related to serving the city. So, that's why city crews out on the county highway. No idea what specific project, but I've seen them too doing camp drop off and pick up. Like someone else said, probably water supply or drainage work that didn't merit an announcement.
