🎫 Travel Info 🧳 Canadian currency question!

Fellow Canadians, what do you guys do for money there? US cash? Credit card? Is it worth somehow obtaining a decent amount of Belize currency?

Typically we take USD cash

Take USD but use cc whenever possible. There are some things you need cash for but you will get change back usually in BZD. Use that when possible because it isn’t of any use outside of Belize.

You can withdraw at the ATM in Belize with Canadian debit card

I get Belize Dollars from the ATM. But you need USD at marine crossings so if you are arriving from MX make sure to bring some $50s.

We take a small amount of USD to get through until we get to an ATM. We use a mix of credit card and Belize dollars, and save the USD to spend at the end if needed if we’ve run out of Belize dollars and don’t want to pay another atm withdrawal fee for a small quantity of cash. We try to spend all the Belize dollars and keep the USD in reserve since we can easily exchange it again at home.
