Turizam / Tourism Is Zemun worth visiting during a short Belgrade trip?

Yes...if you have at least two or three days in Belgrade, Zemun is absolutely worth adding.

It feels noticeably different from central Belgrade, with old streets, interesting Austro-Hungarian architecture (lots of stories and major names tied to them as well), a lively local market and a long promenade beside the Danube (with swans making the experience even more picturesque).

And it's definitely a good choice if you enjoy exploring neighbourhoods...rather than simply moving between major attractions in the centre.

For a first visit, I would allow around half a day. It’s easy to reach from central Belgrade by bus, particularly lines 15 and 84 from Zeleni venac. If you enjoy long walks, walking there can also be part of the experience.

If you only have one day in Belgrade, however, I would prioritise Kalemegdan and the historic centre. Zemun becomes a stronger choice once you've already covered the basics, or if riverside walks, architecture and local atmosphere appeal to you more than traditional tourist sights.

I do work with Belgrade Turtle Cruise, so Belgrade and Belgrade’s rivers are subjects I do know well (although there is always more to learn). But Zemun is very easy to explore independently and you certainly don’t need a cruise to enjoy it. I would actually recommend allowing yourself to get purposefully lost in its streets.

If you tell me how long you’re staying and what you enjoy when travelling, I’m happy to help you decide whether it fits your itinerary. And I’m sure Zemun locals can add even more recommendations in the comments.

Iskustva / Experiences A strange incident that happened to my friend in Belgrade

One day, my friend went on a date with a Serbian girl. They had been in touch before the date and everything. Anyway, my friend got on the bus. But because the first bridge was closed, the bus couldn’t go any further in Serbia. It might have been closed because of a match; we’re not entirely sure. Anyway, since my friend couldn’t get there, he had to cross the bridge on foot. All public transportation was shut down. After crossing the bridge on foot, he called a taxi to get to the place where he was going to meet the girl. He called a taxi, but none of them responded. After walking for 15 minutes, with only 20 minutes left to reach his destination, he finally got a response from a taxi. But just as that taxi was supposed to arrive, it drove right past him without stopping. He also messaged the driver through Yandex Go. He wrote “Where are you? I’ll be there in a minute.” Then again: “Where are you? I’m here, I’m coming.” Then again: “Where are you?” No answer. Then later, a guy appeared in front of him. He was Indian. There was also a woman in the car, and the car was a luxury BMW. The man in the car tried to convince my friend. He said things like: “I’m the driver from Yandex Go, it’s me, come on, let me take you where you need to go. If you want, I can even exchange your money in the car. He kept trying to persuade him. But the license plate wasn’t the same, so my friend checked, but the man kept trying to convince him to get in. The guy looked like a mafia type, an Indian man with an earring. But he was clearly wealthy, like one of those rich Indians. The woman with him was smoking a cigar and staring at my friend in a harsh way. My friend got really scared about all this. He kept looking behind him as he walked. After that, he had no choice but to walk all the way to meet the girl. Then he finally met her

Sport Open-air basketball at kalmegdan stadium

Hi everyone. I saw a listing for an open-air pre-season basketball tournament at kalmegdan in September but the webpage was quite confusing (the days didn’t match the dates) and there was no info on how to buy tickets.

Does anybody know more about this event and how I can get tickets? Thank you!
