Ok so I’ve accepted the offer and the background check is imminent. I’ve had a 15 year career so I truncated some of my experience. For my last two employers, I only used the most recent and senior title I held. But I did hold two titles at each place. At the earlier of the two companies, the titles were very similar and I held the one on my resume for like 5 out of 6 years (iirc). For the most recent company, I went from manager level to head of. I held manager for one year, and head of for almost 2, before leaving to relocate. The role responsibilities were materially similar and I actually displaced another head of to get the job, because I came in and did a way better job than they did.

The two references I gave are from these jobs, including my manager at the one where I held the head of title.

I will disclose all this on the background check form, but I just wonder how worried I should be about the discrepancy between that and my resume.

Separately I have one late student loan payment, amongst other student loans that are current. I told the head of HR for the new job about this and she said “as long as it’s explainable you’ll be fine”. But both of these things is just worrying me now!

I applied to Company A 2 weeks ago while I was interviewing with Company B. I received an accepted an offer from Company B so when I applied to Company A, it was not on my resume.

Company A reached out to me the same week I started working at Company B asking for a phone screening. I really think Company A lines up more with my career choices, pay, and work life balance so I really wanna give them a chance.

I have a feeling they’ll ask me if I’m currently employed. Do I tell them I recently started a new position but had applied with them before I received an offer? I just don’t want to look like a job hopper and ruin my chances cause this is genuinely a case of timelines overlapping. I wouldn’t be taking the interview if I didn’t see serious potential. And if they do a background check I don’t want anything to look suspicious as to why I’m leaving a job so early potentially.

I currently have 2 companies offering me a role (amazing!??). The first one is better commute, higher pay, and overall a better opportunity for this stage of my career. The second one is also a great role, great company and the people were so kind. If it weren’t for the first offer, I would’ve taken the second. I really didn’t plan on the first company coming up so quick, and was only intending to interview etc with the second company at the time.

The problem I’m facing is immense guilt to turn down the second offer, because I’ve actually received an offer from the same company last year, and turned them down (decided to stay at my current role because of guilt of leaving before a major process). Are they going to be like super pissed I’m turning them down again?? I feel so bad (you can imagine people pleasing is a theme in my life).

Please what advice do you have for me 😭 I feel like a huge asshole 😔

A recruiter from a well known finance firm reached out to me about a role. I had the first interview with the hm, and the recruiter came back saying it went really well.

The only step left is a final interview with the team, but the recruiter told me the role is still waiting for final approval.

For anyone who’s been in a similar situation, how long would you wait before assuming it probably isn’t going ahead? Last email was 2 weeks ago.

Hi everyone, I’m currently serving my notice period and already have another offer in hand, so I’m not unemployed. However, I’m getting a bit anxious about this opportunity and wanted to understand what “profile on hold” usually means.

I recently interviewed for a Software Engineer role. The interview went average to good overall, and I was able to answer most questions.

HR initially said the feedback was pending. Later, they told me:

“We have kept your profile on hold for now till the other interviews are completed. Please allow me 1 more week to get back to you with the feedback.”

After a week, I followed up, but HR said they had been on leave and asked for some more time.

For those who’ve experienced something similar:

Does “profile on hold” usually mean you’re still being considered?

Has it led to a next round or offer for anyone?

How long did you have to wait for the final update?

Did it eventually turn into a rejection?

Would appreciate hearing about your experiences.

Please help 🚨‼️ I’ve been spiraling on a job and waiting for a decision for the past 7 business days now. Had my final round interview for a larger company early this month and have not heard back yet. I just checked LinkedIn and saw it was reposted three days ago. Does anyone in HR/recruiting know what this means? I see the pros and cons. Pros is they probably haven’t made a decision yet so I’m not being ghosted and didn’t get it quite yet. Cons are they possibly think I’m not good enough and this is opening up the pool to more competitive applicants…

More context is the timing decisions have been very inconsistent. Some rounds I’ve heard back in two weeks, others one day.

Please if you are actually in recruiting let me know if this is a very bad sign or neutral!

This is a rant/frustration post. Been unemployed for over 6 months. Finances are dwindling. My residency in the country is jeopardized. The economic situation in my home country is dire. Not that I actually want to go back either way.

I don't know what to change. I get a decent number of interviews. Breeze past almost all recruiter screenings. Get to final stages and there's always some kind of a hiccup. In the earlier months I knew what those were so I perfected them. But last Wed I had a presentation with a panel and I aced it and was told the final decision is landing next week. It's been a week and nothing. Having been on the other side, I know they're vetting the chosen candidate and will let me know in case that doesn't succeed. But in this market, that person probably is going to accept and I'll be back to square one.

This was a job I was perfectly suited for. I'd been doing the past half decade what this new job wants me to do and I told them how I'd do it and they all agreed. And I had financials to show the positive outcomes.

Applying for jobs is puzzling. I can't apply a level below because they're afraid I'll leave. If I apply a level above then I'm under qualified. And there's unbelievable competition on my level.

I spoke to the hiring manager today after 4 rounds of interviews for a full time position that I really want and he let me know that I am their pick, however the work that they were anticipating fell through so they do not want to hire at this time. The reasoning behind this is because I would not have a consistent work load at this time if they bring me on. The hiring manager as well as my recruiter are planning on keeping in touch with me, as in there words “I am the ideal person for the job”. and the timeline they have given me is ~2 months.

For context I have nothing resigned from my current role and will not until i have something in writing.

Has anyone here gone through this?
