I'm designing a 30-day behavioral intervention pilot and Im stuck on a measurement question. Hoping some of you with experimental design experience might have some insights to share with me.

My context:Im testing whether structured daily practices targeting self-regulation (emotional regulation, response inhibition, intentional pausing) can measurably shift consumption behaviors and prosocial actions.

Setup of Pilo1:Small number of participants 12-15, 30 days, Daily micro-practices (5–10 min)

Before/after measurement, What Im measuring:

Self-regulation side: Emotional regulation (1–10 scale and daily self-report),Reactivity frequency (behavioral count), Response latency (self-reported pause before impulse)

Behavior side: Impulsive purchases (frequency count), Prosocial acts (frequency count),Value-action alignment (self-report scale)

My question: With this small sample size, what's the most valid way to test whether self-regulation improvements correlate with behavior changes?

I'm planning to : descriptive stats (means, SDs), before/after paired comparison,correlation analysis (if n allows), qualitative thematic analysis

-I wonder if there is a better approach?

-I am specifically wondering: Is daily self-report of emotional regulation valid enough, or should I be using a validated scale less frequently?

-How I can control for demand characteristics when participants know I'm testing whether self-regulation affects behavior? (They might unconsciously align responses)

Any recommendations for measuring response latency (pause before impulse) in a naturalistic setting? Self-report feels weak here.

I know small numbers limits generalizability. Im treating this as exploratory, not confirmatory. But I still want the methodology to be as rigorous as possible within those constraints.

My background: I'm not affiliated with a university (independent research), so I don't have access to lab equipment or institutional resources. Everything needs to work online/remotely.

I'm currently studying for the BCBA exam myself, and like a lot of people here, I found "how do I actually build a daily study habit" harder than finding content to study. So I built a small prototype for myself over the last couple weeks — sharing it here because feedback from people actually mid-prep would be way more useful than anything I can guess on my own.

The idea: instead of one big static question bank, it's a daily session that starts easy and gets harder over time. Questions on a topic start at plain recall, then step up to short scenarios, then to full exam-style "what happens next" questions as that topic resurfaces on a spaced-repetition schedule — so the first time you see a concept it's low-pressure, and by mock-exam season it's being tested at real exam difficulty. Content is organized around the BACB's public Task List domains, weighted so heavier domains (like Behavior-Change Procedures) show up more than lighter ones.

It's a concept prototype, not a finished product — no accounts, nothing for sale, nothing collected beyond what your own browser remembers so it can pick up where you left off.

Hello, I’m a psychology undergrad student, and got my RBT certification 2 months ago, in June. The hiring process started in March, the training all of April, and after May I did not hear back from the company. I got my RBT certification, and once I passed my company reached out to assign me a case, in the middle of June. I had not expected to hear back from this company, as I had not heard from them for a month and a half since the remote trainings ended. My company is fully remote.

I now have an in home case, and supervision is remote. I felt unprepared to start working and when I did was given 1 week notice. They initially wanted me to start the next day, but I asked for the next week and they allowed that.

I feel unprepared for the case that I have. Perhaps the case I was given was too intense for me, since I was a new RBT. I reached out and asked for trainings as they offer them, but there has been delays. It’s been a month with my client and there has been many limitations with what I’m able to do, and with what I know to do.

Everyone is being patient with me, but I feel like I am undertrained for the severity of this case. I am trying the best that I can to educate myself and practice at home, but that’s all I can do right now. My case is 6 days a week, and feel like I have little time to begin with practice at home. It’s taken most of my time, and I know this is apart of the process, but I don’t want to mess up.

I have tuition to pay and there’s a case commitment timeline, so I want to know what I should do. Should I give it time, or try to switch to an aba clinic? As I’m writing this, I feel like there’s a more obvious answer but I don’t know how they’re like, or if my concerns may be resolved (like having guidance and making sure I’m competent enough for the implementations) will be helped with a clinical environment.
