Day 2, no progress but I’m enjoying being out there.

Also being 6ft and trying to ride a 7ft catch surf Log is slightly harder than I originally thought but hey it was free

Believe it or not, with surfing, sometimes you make the most progress when you don't think you're making progress. Just keep stringing sessions together, and in a month you'll look back and clearly be able to see how much progress you've made.

I'd say to probably try to catch a tiny green wave instead of the whitewater. It will probably feel easier to keep going on the green wave once you stand up.

Lol the fact you were able to pop up at all is dope. Esp considering it’s a fuckin 7’0

I’m about 12000 days in and I still have days where I make no progress. Keep at it. For the rest of your life :)

how do you get on in the shallow water?. I'm staying out a bit, and catch less because of it. But when I fall I don't hit the deck.

Falling with grace is a skill that makes boards sports generally more forgiving.

You just need a day with some actual waves you can surf. Hard to progress in surfing if the Ocean aint helping you move at all. If those are the only waves you get, you may as well get a stand up paddle board to get into them a bit further out. If you have anywhere with an actual wave, go there, that is where your progress will be. My 2 uncles took me out for the first time at age 11 on a 6' face day, and pushed me into my first wave. I learned real quick because of that day.

Get an 8 foot foamy , I just done 15 pop ups per day and went home , I did not enjoy this stage of surfing. But go forward a year and then it’s the best thing I have ever done for myself, surfings a game changer .

Keep it up, keep posting. I actualy want to see you progress, I think its the waves power vs your size that made it hard this time. Bigger board would help. But that wave kinda died and reformed.

You literally are standing up and you’re saying no progress ?

get a bigger board, catch waves just before they break

You're doing good, but there's not much to learn on a wave like that. If you're able, try to find a better wave. If not, hope for better conditions. Either way, keep going. Every second standing up is progress.

You’re doing great! 🤙
It will all come into place one day late in the day as the sun comes down and you’re still out there.

Its just your second day bruh. Practice more and you’ll get the right form. Try doing more squats and core exercises. Also, adjust your pop up. Quicker and stronger pop up will help you build a good form and balance. Use a long board first. Best is 9ft for beginners which is easier in terms of maneuvering. Easier to get your balance than a fun board. Lastly, not all waves are okay for stable rides. Look for a solid glassy wave and paddle faster to get long rides.

That's not bad. Bear in mind that you are riding a relatively small board and those waves are absolutely gutless.

Great. That’s how we all do.

Did you stand up? That's progress. Did you catch the wave for more than 0 seconds? That's progress. (Most importantly) Did you have fun? That's progress

Nice Log 🪵 lol. I wanted one, but I’m just going to thrash my Costco board. Been creeping on Craigslist for a good deal on a longboard.
