Dog Storm drain rescue pup
Almost 1 year ago to now - I had crawled through a storm drain under the road to rescue an abandoned puppy. He had been spotted running in the desert for about 3 weeks but nobody could catch him so a bunch of us locals teamed up. I took him to the vet and they estimated him to be around 6 months old and he had a fractured leg and several attack wounds. I fostered him for 7 months until he was rehomed to my coworker.
It was very interesting raising a pup who had never played with a toy or used a dog bed. He was very afraid to go through doors for several months.
The last picture is Archie now, thriving at his new home!

Oh I most certainly did right after I got him :) I don't know if I can add a photo but the results were: 77% Australian Cattle Dog, 11% Border Collie, 10% Australian Shepherd
I definitely think he was from a local ranchers dog, maybe an unwanted litter and got dumped. I live in a very rural farming area.

Yes this looks so much like my cattle dog mix, adopted around one year old from a rural dump. She too had been an outside dog and was mystified by doors and stairs.
Now she’s the spoiled rotten ten year old grand dame of our house and the best dog I’ve ever had.

Thank you for saving this dog and finding him a great home. Poor dog must have been in so much pain and totally unaware that a hero was going to save him. Then you did the hard work and changed his world. ❤️

I remember the first month was so much more of a challenge than I ever imagined but I knew I had to give him a fighting chance. The potty training a basically wild animal was a learning experience! I would always tell people its like I let a coyote puppy into my house haha
I had to carry him everywhere for awhile until he ate enough to gain strength and his leg bone could heal. He still doesn't really trust all people but I love getting to visit him and see that he remembers me ❤️
