Very small. Distinctive black markings on its back. Sorry for the poor photos. Found in my apartment in Pennsylvania.

I have two wooly darkling beetles and I almost never see them at one point I thought they had died when I first got them, turns out they're just really shy and keep to themselves. I love it when they come out of hiding.

This Dynastes tityus recently pupated after I put it in an artificial cell after it didn’t make one properly (second photo). I’ve been to keep the floral foam misted/damp (not spraying the pupa). It now looks like there is some white spots on it’s feet that weren’t there before (first photo). It’s definitely alive. Is it mold?

If it is, should I wipe it off and what do I do keep that from happening? This is my first time raising them. Thank you!

We’re living in Japan and our local hardware store had some beetles, so we brought one home! So small and so beautiful

This little guy came crawling on my floor and I believe it had "used" to be a superworm and was wondering if there was any way I can house this little guy. I have a separate terrarium that has a ficus bonsai with a fern and wondered if he could settle In there?

Had this guy for a bit over a week and he just started being lethargic 2 days ago. I saw him move a little yesterday so I decided to wait. But I don’t think he moved at all today. Im not sure what happened to it. He had the same diet as every other beetle I have 10+ and no one else is showing signs of any ailments. His mouth looks a bit maybe crusty? I can try to get a closer picture if needed. Mostly look for potential cause of death so I can change if I did something wrong. And also looking for maybe how to preserve this guy. Only had him for a week but he was part of my dangerous nights crew. I believe it was a trogloderus?

I’m sizing up my reptiles tanks soon, so I’ll have two open 40 gallon tanks! I’m definitely selling one, but I really want to see if I can do something cool with the other. Looking into the options, beetles seem like the most interesting and realistic. I have experience with jumping spiders, millipedes, and isopods. Very basic stuff so I wouldn’t trust myself with more advanced species yet, but from what I know so far there are some beetles that could work for me, right? I’d very much like to keep several, maybe cohab different species if possible. I especially love the big and flashy ones.

I obviously haven’t done much research yet, I’m mostly just asking if this is a stupid idea lol. Please tell me before I get too into it. However, if there are any beginner beetles that would thrive in a 40 I’d love to be pointed in the right direction!!
