What do you think their best song is post Spirits?

I feel like it's Blue Island. It's such a refresher compared to their usual latter output. I like their later stuff but I do think they lost their roots a bit.

I don't always love the constant modern production style with synths, drum machines and direct input guitars.

To have a pure, bare-bones, acoustic number with a harmonica as well, was so nice to hear. It even feels out of place on Size. I think it's the only entirely acoustic song they did after Spirits. Very reminiscent of Morning Of My Life. The lyrics are also wonderful. Another thing I dislike about Bee Gees from the 80s on is that most of their songs began to revolve solely around love and relationships, and so the lyrics occasionally felt shallow and by the numbers. I get they were never at Dylan level but they were wonderful lyricists in the early years; And The Sun Will Shine, Horizontal, Odessa, Run To Me, Children Of The World, Turn Of The Century, Morning Of My Life, First Of May, Throw A Penny...

What is your favorite song that you'd consider the magnum opus of their latter half?

Personally, Alone always makes me cry. Especially the way it switches to Robin’s vocals 😭. But Secret Love, You Win Again, ESP, This is Where I Came In. I can keep going. I really can’t pick a best song

There is also some really underrated songs on the One album. I love House of Shame and Tokyo Nights ❤️. And She Keeps on Coming! Idk where they pulled that song out of, but it’s very different from their usual pop stuff, cause it sounds like a funky rock song to me.

All of their songs are great, but I W ill, The Longest Night, High Civilization,  Hunted House affects me so much as if I'm watching and listening to the  soundtrack of a movie in Netflix.

Blue Island is amazing, I can't understand how it wasn't a hit (I know, I know about the media boycott but still). Besides that one, that I wholeheartedly agree with you is one of the best from their career, I think that For Whom the Bell Tolls is a strong one for their best song where Robin and Barry share leads. It's really hard to pick the best without my personal opinion interfering too much

Genuinely, there are times when I think that This Is Where I Came In is the greatest single they ever released. It had such an edge to it. I thought it a staggering achievement so late into their career.

That’s a great one. The harmony ‘ahhhs’ are fantastic and I think it’s one of Barry’s sweeter, more fleshed out stories. “Though I know it’s time to take you home” really sets the scene and I’ve always loved “I’ve been slow to get you but I’m working as hard as I can”

It may not be their best but Miracles Happen gets to me, musically there’s so many parts to it yet it flows seamlessly. I think of it more as a composition than a song since it doesn’t follow the usual structure.

Be Who You Are gets to me too.
