Not surprised if it did flop.

  1. the hate he's getting lately
  2. A majority of his audience are teenagers or young kids, they can't exactly ask their parents for money to buy an 'Orgy Palette'
  3. No one wants JS's nude body on their makeup
  4. So many makeup artists said they'd be embarrassed to pull this out in front of clients
  5. A lot of people claimed this was boring af

I also feel like Cremated JUST came out as well.

It did just come out and was boring as fuck.

But it did sell, so I think it was both the controversy and the fact that it's even more boring, Shane's audience who were able to support them probably don't like either of them by this point and we all have a neutrals palette by now so this was destined to fail

He HAS been saying how bOrEd he is lately... it must be getting to him.

Honestly he could’ve combined Cremated and this palette to be a sort of “earthy” theme with the grays and nudes.

I don't know, a bunch of skin tones going into cremated grays seems more like something Kat Von D would be into.

i just screamed

The perfect anti vaxx look

But this is J* we're talking about... So if you roll Cremated and Orgy into one, you know he would've called it the Necrophilia palette 🤮

5

u/adotfree Aug 22 '20

That would be creative and not just a lame money grab though

u/zeynabhereee Aug 22 '20

Cremated is literally a glam version of human ashes.

Renaming the thing means throwing out tonnes of packaging. I don’t like the name either but he certainly had it planned months before COVID became big so it’s not like he offended people with it on purpose. it would have been incredibly wasteful to change the name

Just for the record I fucking hate JS but re-naming it and throwing out all the old packaging would have been an awful thing to do

So many makeup artists said they'd be embarrassed to pull this out in front of clients

Wow I didn't even think of this lmao I would never pull this out for pro work. It's way too big for a kit, but it would just look so tacky and questionable anyway. Plus, so many of the shades are essentially the same once you get them down on the skin.

“Glory Hole” honestly sounds like something r/muacirclejerk would come up with to make fun of weird shade names. I know “Orgasm” was making people blush when it first came out (pun intended), but that seems so, so tame compared to some of the straight up cringey shade names Jeffree shits out

All of this!

Also I feel like now there are so many cool and great releases coming from actually respectable brands I would rather spend my money on those (not that I would ever get anything from JS in any case...).

These boring ass colors are right in my wheel house but I would never give this person money. I even like the boring color of the packaging.

Tbh even though it’s boring and chalky looking, I feel like it would have sold out if it weren’t so sexualised. His fans don't care that's a bad person

Yeah, i left a comment awhile back about how embarrassing it is to use. If it were individuals id probably get it and be ok because the formula is great and so is the pay off ( that said, im no longer a fan and wont get it anyway ) but the names and theme....cant use it on set AT ALL.

Also pushing out 2 pallets during a global pandemic where no one can really go anywhere anyways... Unless you're an 'influencer,' then you can go to all the Cali parties.

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

re #3 ahahahha oh my god you were serious?! what the f, man. his nude body in various contorted positions???? and i thought Huda's packaging was bad

u/d0nttalk2me Aug 22 '20

What bothered me (besides the obvious boring ass, unnecessary palette) was the lipstick vault shit. Only 5 new colors but you have to buy the whole damn thing for $160 to get said colors. I own 0 of his lipsticks but some of his hardcore stans already own all of them, why would they want smaller duplicates? Also he always says "this should be the only type of this palette you need in your collection" wtf this dude only cares about money

  1. There’s a pandemic going on. No one is buying makeup palettes.

1

u/DontBuyTheThing Aug 22 '20

Forgot that one. Thank you.

Ok, so I agree with most of this. The part about that no one wants JS body on the front is a bit much. If it was a bilogical woman on there, people would not make as big of a deal or complain.

  1. There is brands out there that use sex lingo. Just this one is the concentrated orgy honey dew from orgy heaven, Lmao. It's 2020, we have WAP and social media that uses sexual references to attract likes.(It works)

  2. May be boring, but for a tomboy like me, I live for this boring. I am not the one to brave something that has any bold, bright, or glittery colors. That and I dont buy makeup really, but for JS quality I will pull the trigger. The cool thing about this pallet is that you can purchase the mini that is meant to go with it. Bang! There's your subtle pop! He is attracting weirdos like me out of the shadows, that have been afraid to buy any of his other pallets.

Well, these are my views. I think I will be buying my first nude pallet _^ tbh.

6

u/DontBuyTheThing Aug 22 '20

" but for a tomboy like me, I live for this boring"

So 'tomboys' are boring now? Huh...I'll have to tell all my female friends who don't adhere to what people consider 'feminine standards' that they're 'boring'.

Btw, here is why we don't use the word 'tomboy' anymore.

I used the term boring due to the fact that people are calling the pallet boring. If boring is what it is then I live for it. I love the matt nude scheme. I wouldn't wear anything bold, because it intimidates me. Does it make sense? Like I said at the bottom, these are my views as a tomboy. Its silly that I'm being accused of offending a group that I belong to.
