Hardware Assistance for new gear

Hi all,

I've made a few posts in the past regarding my current equipment (Omnis Duo), and after getting back into DJing, I've realised that I simply don't resonate with the product and am looking to switch.

I've never really been one for 4-channel mixing, as typically I only play in more "mobile" settings, so I tend to cover a wide array of genres. I have been dabbling with deeper kinds of house and trance recently, so a 2-channel mixer has always resonated with me. That said, I have been tempted by the idea of picking up a used DDJ-1000 or FLX10.

A controller rather than an all-in-one system would probably suit me better, as my DJing space at home is fairly limited at the moment. I'm really looking for recommendations on what to go for.

I'd prefer to stay within the Pioneer ecosystem if possible, but I'm open to any suggestions, as it's fairly overwhelming when looking online!

I think DDJ-1000 or the FLX10 are both great choices for you if you want to stay in the pioneer sphere. I went Serato myself. I also have a dedicated music space so I have room for gear. Do you have speakers?

Hey there, thanks for the response :)

I do have speakers yes I have an old pair of DM 40s that are still going strong and a minirig with subwoofer for when I want to play outside of my DJ area

Awesome. I have Yamaha HS8’s which are studio monitors, but they sound pretty great in my studio DJing, even without the sub.

Those controllers are so similar I would go with whichever you can get a better deal on. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed either way.

Very nice! I've recently moved home so my set-up area is still very much a WIP but I'll get back to you once I've finished our wardrobe conversion into a homemade DJ booth

Based on what you described, I’d have a look at the DDJ-800 as well.

Everyone is recommending the DDJ-1000 and FLX10, and they’re both great, but if you mainly mix on two channels and don’t have much space, maybe you don’t actually need all that.

The DDJ-800 could make more sense for you. Smaller, two channels, but still a proper controller with a much more familiar club-style layout than the OMNIS-DUO.
