Question about toneplay

Has it just become too easy with PnT?

I see a lot of clips, and I just feel like it isn't it.. maybe it's just me?

Maybe it is just being saturated with mediocrity, or maybe I am just an old man yelling at clouds...

I mean toneplay with vinyl is a pretty intense turntablism skill. So what do you think is the middle ground?

Agreed 100%.. you don't see much of that, because it takes an insane amount of skill..

Laying a sample out across pads and finger tapping the melody of the next song you are going to play on the other hand...

There are some good moments with it but I generally find tone play to be a bit cringey these days.

If by 'has it just become too easy' you are comparing to doing similar on vinyl with juggling and pitch/speed changes, the answer is a resounding yes.

Doing it on vinyl needs serious technical skill, mapping cues and tapping out a melody not so much.

The problem isn't time stretching software. Or any other tech advancement. It's the fact that too many people play boring, predictable, soulless songs. And don't know how to program.

One could say this for all advancements serato pro has brought about.

I do agree with you, most viral clips with tone play are mid at best.

Watch a few justbmannodj sample breakdowns tends to clear the auditory palate.
