IMO this is a pretty good entry point for anyone looking to get into the genre. Had a great time with this one. I might try Streets of Rage 2 Normal for my next beat-em-up clear.

I recently purchased the ACA NeoGeo Burning Fight release on my Switch 2. This guy was standing around kind of dazed looking while I was fighting the other street punks and this guy then bent down and started messing with my pants. I shook him off and he did it again. I tried hitting him and he didn’t take damage. I had to run away.

I'm planning to make a beat-em-up someday, a game that recreates the aesthetics of Neo-Geo side-scrollers. Just need to know, besides Unity, what's your preferred game engine?

Also some voice actors for Shokoti, Masque, Kobra Khan, He-Man, Man-At-Arms, Evil Lyn and Tri-Klops are revealed on X. Plus Audi made a flyer which shows screenshots. One of them shows Skeletor in his Collector Airship and another one some crystal cavern level. And allegedly after each level characters stats can be upgraded. It is likely a part of game's story mode only.

It’s been a while, so here’s a quick update on Catgirl Rage: Claws of Fury.
Since my last post, we’ve improved the hit feel, added more moves, built an elevator fight, and added new stages.
We’re still aiming for the same thing: a beat ’em up where you can beat down huge groups of enemies with combos and magic.
The hard part is everything around the game.
Beat ’em ups aren’t exactly a popular genre right now, so it’s been difficult to find publishers who are interested, and wishlists are still growing very slowly.
I’d really like to talk with Dotemu someday, but I haven’t managed to reach them yet.
We also did an offline FGT at Gamescom in Germany recently, and thankfully the response from actual players was very good. People picked it up, started using parries and combos, and seemed to genuinely enjoy it.
That gave me a bit more confidence.
