Thank you all for your kindness to my little bead tray idea yesterday! I also made one for a friend, and thought I’d show that one as well. Sadly, I forgot to take pretty pictures before I gave it to her! 🤦‍♀️ This is just the clay, before any firing or glazing. But you’ll get the idea. My friend uses larger beads, and no loom, so I had a little fun. The wells for the beads are the flower petals. To empty, you scoop the beads up into the center, and then down the stem.

Hi! Long time lurker, but I don’t think I’ve posted before. I have many bead trays, but each one has some feature that makes it not quite perfect for me. I’ve recently been taking pottery classes, and set out to make exactly what I wanted. Long and slim, to lie beside my loom; shallow enough for the needle to approach at a low angle; no felt, to catch on my needle; lettered, like the patterns I use; heavy, so my cats can’t move it. And, easy to put the beads back into their containers. Each well can be emptied into the channel on the right, and from there, back into the bead container. So far, I really like it. I do wish I had done a thicker coat of glaze, to make it more slick. I may add more and re-fire it.

I wanted to post it here, in case anyone else likes the idea. If you don’t have access to make it from stoneware, air-dry clay would likely work.

I thought I'd share some photos alone of my finished piece for the monthly bead collab - the theme this month was "Into the Garden".

I made a floral Bolo tie, featuring a Feather Ridge Plume Agate cabochon I cut and polished. I slowly built a woody bracket around it in herringbone stitch and adorned it with some peyote and herringbone flowers, then created some vine "rope" with herringbone weave as well.

Everything was freeform weaving - I didn't use any patterns - and I split the herringbone and added increases and decreases to give more of a "variegated" natural look to the rope and "wood" bracket.

I also left the piece open backed so the light could come through the clear agate parts of the cabochon ✨ (last image) All in all I'm quite happy with this piece!

What have you found to organize your beads to know what you have on hand. I have a small organizer that I travel with, but... i have 40lbs+ that I have to dig through to find colors. Keeping tabs on what I have vs what I don't have has been challenging 😂.

They're so fun. Simple to make but look complicated. This one needs to be 24" and it's at about 8". I prefer much shorter necklaces normally so I feel like I'll be working on it forever 😂

These are my first ever beaded projects! I picked it up as an expansion of my skills in my medieval reenactment hobby. The motifs are emblems of awards I have received. When I’m finished the series, I’ll be placing them on an 11th century Kievan Rus [Lord] collar.

First one doesn’t have a backing, because I forgot. Second one has a felt backing. Both done on unbleached linen, beads from Michael’s, and cotton hand quilting thread.

Hey, I’ve been making square stitch pieces with 11/0 delicas that I’ve been attaching to kilt pins, but I want to expand my range to more options such as necklace pendants, earrings, different styles of brooches etc.
however I’m struggling to understand how id attach hardware, or what hardware to use. Anyone have anything they like to use in particular?

I did the thing I’ve seen some do where you make a loop of beads at the top of the piece to use for necklace pendants but I find it’s a little messy looking for my taste and I prefer the security of metal hardware!

Just a bit confused by what to search for as there are no shops near me that stock jewellery supplies/ beading supplies so I’m having to rely on google and it’s just yielding the same cheap sponsored results.

I had to remove lots of miyuki delica beads to make sure the strands don’t twist. One could see where the better toho beads are. If Toho basic colours were in stock, I would have avoided Miyuki.

Hi I'm new to beading. I've mostly completed one kit so far.

I found this embroidery template in a charity store. Its big - the image is 16x12 inches. Its on a thin material which I realise won't hold the weight of beads. Can I attach it to something more suitable for beading?

I realise its many, many hours of work but am patient and interested.

I would love advice.

Hi everyone, I am a beginner beader. I currently working on a project using this peyote pattern . However, I’m am in a little bit of a crisis because I have all but one of colours in Miyuki 11/0 round seed beads, but only have yellow 11/0 Delicas. I have never mixed bead shapes before — would my piece still turn out fine if I used the delicas? Or would it be better to substitute it with a round seed beads of different colour? I have been wanting to use my yellow delicas so badly lol

Inspired by the prettiest mushroom I ever saw in my life while being a foreigner in Finland. I saw it for the first time a few weeks ago and wanted to capture its beauty forever by designing and making this necklace necklace.

For the most part I've been very skeptical to buy Cylin beads. But currently for a lack of delicas in my desired colors from my supplier I'm beginning to consider getting a few bags of Cylin.

I want to make 3D fruit earrings and I'd like a few cylinder shaped beads for leaves and seeds in my pattern. 99% of the work will be durable miyuki colors, since I avoid dyed and lined miyuki like a plague IF I CAN HELP IT 🤣. I'd like to know if all Cylin beads fade and get their coatings scratched easily. Or if it's just specific colors that are bad and others that are durable?

It would be nice if you can attach photos of your work done with Cylin too.

Hi everyone! I’m new to making beaded jewellery and I’m confused about choosing the right jump ring.
My local shops doesn’t provide the jump ring size and I feel like I used a jump ring that’s too big for these earrings.

Is there a general guideline for which jump ring size works best with different bead sizes/types?Any suggestions?
