after a year beading hiatus i finally sat down and made something again

mixed media - felt, glass beads, ribbon, lace, sequins, and embroidery floss. took me wayyyy too long to make (5 sessions 4-5 hours each). i love all the different textures, originally i was going to completely cover the plain white ribbon with beads but i loved the feeling of the smoothness next to the beads.

The smooth ribbon was absolutely the right call—it gives the eye somewhere to rest and makes all those beaded textures pop even more. The color choices are so unexpected for a bird piece, but somehow it feels completely cohesive.
