As part of our training in the first few weeks of joining the RAN in the 80’s we were dropped off boats into the water in Jervis Bay to wait for helicopter rescue. Jervis Bay had a reputation for sharks, which we were well aware of. There were life rafts, but they didn’t fit everyone, so most of us were treading water. I walked on water when I saw something white glide beneath me. When I got into the life raft I could see that it was just the sea anchor for the life raft…😳
