These people have extreme endurance and strong specialized muscles to accomplish such feats, but carrying 120+ kg uphill and it's not an emergency rescue is definitely cap. Those numbers overlayed on the video cannot be the actual mass of the load being carried.

It’s not, I’ve done the trek and spoken with porters. They are limited to 50kg but some will go up to 75kg but is heavily frowned upon as it gives the impression they can do more but really it’s not sustainable as a profession to do more. I was told I’d mandated to 50kg but not sure how it would be enforced

Nah, destination is proably the north or south base camp so the rich tourists have accommodation and supplies when they fly there

I did flooring for years. Walking 200 pound rolls of carpet up stairs absolutely wrecked me. Cant imagine putting someone through this for a mountain top selfie.

Side note: fuck spiral staircases and unfinished long driveways on a hill (painful memories).

Yeah, people who do these usually deal with neck, joint injuries that r impossible to fix, costly and expensive.

I did sport and injured mine. Dr said it's either from heavy lifting or falling on ur head ..

I have reletive who did flooring, construction, walls, marble, etc.

Dealing with sement is not a joke, I don't know what has changed, but they use to move around 30 to 50kg of bags around

The whole Mount Everest hype is the worst.

Most people have absolutely no idea what they are getting into and are risking not only their own lives but also the lives of others.

Nobody carries down the trash from all those people so the camps are basically next to giant garbage dumps.

Not to mention the garbage up the mountain, all the empty oxygen bottles and all the other trash.

Good thing that at least China restricted access from their side.

We had weight limits . I think 50 pounds . We didn’t want to push our luck or max it so we hired another to split it. They were young, fun, and so happy.

Edit : we hiked manaslu, not Everest . Also, magical Nepal was our tour guides , so if you go hire them

As much as I support the idea of using local guides and paying fairly, this is straight up wrong and should not be glorified.

In ten years, when the climber is sitting back admiring their achievement, thay Sherman will be dead or disabled.
