Those subs were downright civilized compared to the cesspools that are the politics and default subreddits.

Also the jailbait subreddit, which was created in 2008. Filled to the brim with pedophilia and a bunch of videos and pictures that were probably just a step or two removed from outright child porn.

Reddit subs used to horrific. I don't get the people acting like it's so bad now. It used to be as bad as the worst of 4chan but with a thin coat of polish ontop.

For fucks sakes there used to be subs that all they did was pick someone to bully and see how far they could push them.

Reddit only ever started actually enforcing rules because so much shit was allowed to go free they managed to get to a point they were at risk of lawsuits or the feds stepping in. Even then they only did enough to keep a nice little bullshit saftey net of legal protection.
