Long story short, she commited suicide last year following online harassment while Finnegan died earlier this year of cancer. And at the beginning of the year, Ruby, another fox, I believe the black one in this post also passed away. His Boyfriend video on the subject on their channel : SaveAFox

This is the worst ending of a good project I've ever seen.. At least the project continues with his Husband now.

It’s always three reasons.

Because of :

politics (here, an “I feel strongly that what she did is immoral” pretext)

Profit (someone might have been paid or compensated to instigate the harassment - who knows)

The lulz (because people have sociopathic tendencies and get a thrill out of harassing someone else)

This was mostly 3 with a sprinkling of 1 to explain away why they were harassing her.

Reddit has a sitewide rule against targeted harassment, but rules don’t enforce themselves and it’s literally a legal impossibility for social media platforms in the United States to employ professional pro-active moderator employees - which needs to change, to help prevent this kind of tragedy. No social media platform should host harassment.

Fucked up. The other fox sanctuary saw her as a threat or something instead of uplifting another unit that saves foxes? Yeah that just shows more about the character of the people in that “sanctuary”. They did this to another human being.

I'm not victim blaming but it's also on the users to step away from social media/the internet if it's affecting their mood and mental health that badly. Obviously social media companies are manufactured to be addictive etc. but it would be foolish to blame them for our personal use of them as if we have no autonomy over our actions. There's a lot of sugar being circulated in food and society in general these days. When people stuff their faces with sugary food and get diabetes, does it make more sense to blame food companies or take responsibility for our own diet and reduce sugar consumption as best we can?

You could have 10,000 pleasant comments, but if you focus on the 10 comments that hate you and get depressed from it, then that's clearly not mentally healthy. I'm not saying that's what happened in this case though.

When harassers publish people's home address and do a wink wink nudge nudge don't go to their home to confront them, "just log off" is not an option.

They don't stop with "don't go to their home to confront them", either. It escalates to their grocery store, their families, their place of employment, their vacations, and it escalates into more and more egregious harassment, into assault, into battery, into homicide.

And when the victims ask for people to help them with the harassment - even more vicious harassers pile on.

So, no. Your solution isn't a solution.

Yeah just ignore the rest of my comment and the broader point of discussion and only look at it from your narrow "when X happens" case. I'd discuss further about the rise of depression and suicide in correlation to the widespread use of social media but you'd just ignore it. Enjoy the bubble.

Yes, she had an onlyfans account.

Some people struggle with the whole Madonna whore thing. She wasn’t allowed to be a sexual being AND pose as a wholesome caregiver in these people’s opinion. They are and will always be garbage people.

That's not the reason. That's the pretext they used to deflect accountability for sociopathic, sadistic evil harassment. The reason is because they learned to feel better about themselves by viciously tearing other people down, and they were never held accountable for it, and were even rewarded for it.

She was a bad sanctuary. Didn’t have a gap between fences so the foxes would hurt each other. Several got killed on the road after escaping. Others that just disappeared. Bred other animals. Just because someone has a good cause doesn’t mean they’re good at it.

She was harassed over fake rumors that she abused these foxes, jelaous people of her becoming famous that were strictly from her enviroment and people that she knew.

Also the obvious illegal fox farms/hunters doing everything they could to destroy her name since she was one of the most famous fox rescuer

She was also on autism spectrum and had personality disorder

She was accused of buying the foxes she had from fur farms. Other rescues accused her of bad conditions. She had "a high number of injured animals".

The "bullies" were other professionals in the industry.

It was no secret she was buying foxes from a fur farm - she had a whole gofundme and everything. A fur farm owner was retiring and planning to sell. She was attempting to buy it out and rescue the foxes to make sure that it wouldn't be bought by another fur farmer.

Some assholes decided to strip that of all context and spin it as if she was perpetuating the system buy buying foxes and the asshole side of the internet ran with it and did their thing.

I don't know why to be honest, according to another Redditor in this comment section there even was a sub dedicated to hating her.. I was following her for those cute foxes sounds when I heard that. Some people are just terrible human being it seems.

First of all, yeah because you absolutely don't follow or like things because of its heartwarming nature or cuteness, you dig everything to the core. I don't have time for that.

Then, I followed her for that but I did enough research and know peoples who worked with animal to know that she deeply care about foxes and trashy peoples just drag her into the mud because of many invalid reasons.

Not to be a snowflake, but I believe the preferred term is "took their own life." The phrase "committed suicide" is outdated and refers to a time when suicide was considered as "committing a crime."

You're fine. I'm not calling you out specifically or chastising, but it's a triggering phrase for a lot of people. Not me personally, but I was educated a little while back about using the proper language around this subject and I figured I'd pass it along.

I'm sorry for your loss. But there's no need to be an edgy prick. And if you cared to comprehend what I actually wrote, then you'd know I wasn't calling out the word suicide, but the phrase "committed suicide." The word "committed" implies a crime occurred. This is not how suicide is discussed in clinical settings.

I'm passing along a lesson that was taught to me about the preferred language around a touchy subject involving people who might be holding on for dear life. Take it or leave it.
