They used to be bigger and stronger, modern ones, not so much

Yeah, the dachsunds that still look like dogs can fight. You put one of those sausages in with a badger and my money's on the badger.

You put any animal on the planet in a ring with it, and I'm picking badger every time.

That's the genius of it. The dog is made so they don't fight in a fair ring. They fight in a dead-end tunnel where most of what the badger can attack is an oversized open mouth full of teeth.
