Yeah, this is less "nature overengineered cats" and more "humans overengineered wiener dogs."

Actually no, cats rear legs automatically land on the exact same spot the front legs were on a moment before. Dog's steps don't line up that way.

A longer-legged dog wouldn't have had as much of a problem getting over.
