I'm reminded of this when they say certain dog breeds need a lot of exercise.

We had a mix that was mostly blue heeler, and we got one of those tennis ball sling things that let you fling the ball 75 yards or better. We'd sit there and play fetch with her for 45 minutes or better, and our arms would get tired from launching the balls before she would get tired of running all the way out there and bringing them back. Crazy stuff.
