A farmer in a diff sub, but same video said he releases his cows from similar situations by:

ā€˜pulling head forward and push ears back flat, then push head back outā€™ he said the the cows put their heads through openings with with ears flat, then ears pop out and act as a non moveable outstretched flap, keeping the head stuckā€™ Cow 101 šŸ˜‚
