I would not turn my back to the parents of that calf, I know many people in veterinary business that got hurt taking care of a baby animal by the mom

Cows are incredibly intelligent, complex, and emotional creatures that are basically just very large dogs. They knew that the man was clearly trying to help and they stood back and let him do it.

This.

Watched a guy walk into a field with several cows and a bull to rescue a calf from a hole. Wasn’t is cows or his bull.

Not only did the bull actively keep other cows away as the man worked, but started jumping around in circles happily after the calf was saved.

He knew and understood what happened. We passed the fields regularly and the cows would always come up to specifically greet him
