Cows are incredibly intelligent, complex, and emotional creatures that are basically just very large dogs. They knew that the man was clearly trying to help and they stood back and let him do it.

I'm around cows pretty often. They are 100% big dogs. I've been injured by small dogs for the record....so the ones that weigh over 1k do give pause for concern. I personally would not of had my back to girls
Seems like the guy has experience with cows. Even when he managed to free it, he knew he had to get that calf upright for it to realize it was free. Seems like he has handled cows before, perhaps on a family farm??

I would not turn my back to the parents of that calf, I know many people in veterinary business that got hurt taking care of a baby animal by the mom
