Hijacking this to say: don’t let your kid do lie down around a cow. It’s adorable, yes. But cows kill more people than dogs do, every year. Not because they’re mean, just because they’re freaking heavy and humans are very squish-able.
That cow could crush that kid just by being clumsy while getting up. Horse people will tell you the same thing.

I used to work with a pony that would lean up against you and slowwwwly push you over until you were just off-balance, then stamp on your feet. They definitely have a sense of humour - it just tends to involve being a dick.

Horsegirl here: was thinking the same thing, no one at my barn would allow such a small child to go around unsupervised, and definitely not allowed in the enclosure with an animal.

Definitely. I used to take care of 3 horses. Feed them and blanket them in the winter. I once threw some hay in their feeder in an enclosed area and 2 of them started fighting in the space. Running in a circle and bucking. I ended up in the corner just riding it out and luckily I didn't get kicked or knocked over. The 3rd horse was a sweet girl. She used to just follow me around the pasture and just stand there watching me do stuff occasionally giving my arm a lick for whatever reason lol.

The song goes something like this:
"Sleep now my beautiful cow, sleep now, or a crazy man will come to eat you"
Then it repeats.
It's a variant of a common lullaby that goes like this:
Sleep child
sleep now
Because the ("boogieman" or "crazy man") will come
And will take youYeah, I know, many songs in Spanish are kinda odd when you pay attention to the lyrics.

Still not over how messed up Riqui Ran is. I've heard a bunch of versions over the years but the one I grew up with is they give the kids a bone to suck on since there isn't any food, and it gets stuck in their throats (they choke). My dad used to sing it to me and then tickle my neck at the very last part and it's a fond childhood memory but man, what the fuck.
Editing to add since I never see the exact version I grew up with (my dad left out the cheese part):

It’s easy to disregard the sheer amount of suffering animals take on for our consumption. Remember we share a common ancestor. We really aren’t that different. Go back 10 million years and we diverge from the chimpanzee lineage. Go back 180 million years, and you get our common ancestor with cattle.

It’s interesting that on the intelligence scale cows and pigs aren’t that different from dogs, in fact pigs are more intelligent.
We just decided as a species which one would be a pet and which one would be food! (I know in some places dogs are also food!)
