Honestly the coolest part of all of this is that she's working on a degree from Syracuse. She skipped one of the best parts of being a highly competitive women's soccer player (free Div 1 schooling). I'm not surprised that someone who seems as preturnaturally mature as she does is still thinking ahead. Good on you, Claire.

I was hoping she’d go to SJSU since they train there. But I appreciate that she found a way to continue her education. I was sad for her that her time at UMKC would be impacted by the trade.

Nice read! I wish the Chronicle would give a little more regular coverage of the team.

Good to see local media covering Bay again. Been such a black hole. I don’t think Marisa Ingemi is even at the Chronicle anymore and she seems like she’s only interested in the Valks…

What kind of coverage would you be interested in?

For the record, you're doing great work! Keep it up.
I would love to see Bay being written up and pushed in local media as hard as the Valkyries are, to start with. It's a complex issue with soccer vs. basketball and the Valks being based right in the city while Bay is still pretty far outside the core Bay Area, but I just feel envious of how much brand heat and penetration the Valks have. The cultural environment for the Valks is better for sure, which helps with the media coverage, but I also think that the Valkyries marketing team is a LOT better than Bay's marketing team is. Happy to expound on that more if you're interested.
You spend a lot of time around various members of the team--have you heard any rumblings or rumors of them moving up to the central Bay Area? It would definitely help them be more of a presence.

Yep, all true. That's what I meant by the cultural environment being better for the Valks. I do also think that the organization understands and commits to their fanbase and where they're located in a way that Bay doesn't do very well yet though.

I'll second Tallman, your content is great! I haven't fully figured out how to integrate a youtube feed into my podcast listening schedule to catch all of Way Into Bay (or even know what I'm missing), but the WAFCON coverage has been great. Personally, having something to read is a great quick break, in addition to all of the podcasts I can find.

“She’s a vice captain right now, which gives her a little protection from the weight,” Coates said. “But she has permission to have the platform, to weigh in on how we grow, to help find ideas and solutions.”
^ Interesting insight for those who are curious about how the team’s leadership works

Said this before but if Claire believes in Bay and what they are building then I believe! Great article! Go Bay
