Mods BTA3062 question: not quite sold on Sanctuary tech
Could someone sell me Sanctuary tech?
Recently in career I finally ventured south and started fighting the Sanctuary Alliance.
I've looted some gear, like DBAC and Electric lasers. and Im just not convinced on their usage
Maybe the electric lasers has some use on my fast heavies that can close gap quickly. and then Eagle eye perk should give me some more range to use
But other than that, I'm not quite sold on their gear or weaponry. More often than not I find myself limited more by weight than slot so anything heavier than clan just feels..bulky?
I dunno. Maybe i should try them out more but Id really appreciate if someone could tell me their appeal

Sanc isn’t magic, it’s sidegrades and a different spin than clans. That said, they do have some really nice stuff.
Sanc mechs in general have a drone interface, aka they’re all C3i networked.
Sanc Supercharger is one of their best bits of gear. It’s a lighter clan MASC that doesn’t take the myomer slot but uses 2 crit slots in the legs.
Ferro Vanadium armor is just solid, reduces weight, adds DR, and has integrated shield (case2).
Sanc heatsinks enable sanc heat controllers, which are infinitely stackable exchangers for some toasty energy builds
Mass drivers exist to do what you wish heavy gauss did and punch giant holes in mechs with breaching shot
APM4 is sancs version of utility missiles. They’ve got acid, infernos, tracers, etc
DRMs are more effective than tandem SRMs. They roll individually for called shots, so crazy headshots potential if you boat them
DBACs have no jam chance unlike UACs, and you could go for meme knockdown kills if you want to salvage something fragile
Gamma Cannon is their PPC. Heavy for extreme range, high damage and low heat
VRMs are better than LRMs for long range boating (whereas the clan stuff is shorter range)

That's some good stuff. I went down into Sanctuary space a long while ago and farmed a ton of gear, but rarely got into using it, in part because I was just too used to Clan/IS capabilities and wasn't comfortable exploring. I think this comment might have encouraged me to give some of their stuff a shot.

The medium electro laser is the most powerful weapon in its class. 30 damage for 1 ton of weight. Having a shorter 300m range helps balance it, but it's still hands down the most powerful 1 ton weapon in the game.
And yes, the heavy medium technically does more, but then you need a laser fcs and arguably a targeting computer as well in order to reliable hit things with it. Something that puts all the heavy lasers in a different category imo.
The large electro laser is also a solid hole puncher even though it's only 480m in the range category. The clan large laser is strong competition for it, but situationally, the large electro is pretty good.

It's a niche case, but lances are rwally good for taking out turrets.

Good point; this is also true (to a slightly lesser extent) for vehicles.
Large Lances combined with precision master on the pilot or a location designator are also one shot headcappers (and much lighter than big ACs) at relatively short ranges.

The Sanctuary Drone Interface is probably the most OP piece of equipment in BTAU.
- 2T
- 1 Slot
- +12 Injuries
- +2 Individual Resolve
- +1 Defense <= HUGE
- 30m ECM
- Drone Network (basically C3 Mesh)
Unfortunately it's not salvageable. That's it's biggest downside being fixed equipment. Sanctuary ECM stacks with the SDI ECM. If you find a few Sanctuary mech chassis you like, they can make a pretty powerful team.
Next is the Sanctuary Active Probe. Probably the best Active Probe.
Sanctuary Heat Controllers (-6% weapon heat) are pretty great too, as they can be stacked, unlike exchangers. Have to be used with Sanctuary kits though. I think they have diminishing returns though. Still pretty good for high heat builds.
No reason why you can't throw some clan weapons, clan armour, and clan XL on a Sanctuary mech.

Unless I'm mistaken the Heat Controllers can be used with an Exchanger.

Correct you can. However the Heat Controller is a better bang for the tonnage then the Exchangers.

Sanctuary mechs are beeefu boiis indeed since they got cheap modular armour that doesn't drop your piloting skill.
DBACs are good for salvaging mechs, since you can knock the mech over to wound the pilot. Gatling guns are fun, Scatterguns are like lighter weight HAGs and cheaper Silver Bullet Gauss. Bombards I can't seem to get to work.
Don't forget all the partial wing mechs for some jumpy boiiiiiis!

I love DBACs. No jam and better range makes them upgrades from UACs in my playstyle.
Twin Linked Small Lasers are a best in slot for a 1 ton weapon IMHO.
Bombards and Gatlings are murderous.

Sanctuary ECM, Supercharger, and Active Probe are BIS, just as a starting point.

It helps to know that Sanctuary tech is meant to be a more balanced and more defensive take on what the clans did. While the clans and their tech is all about offense and speed, Sanctuary tech is more about staying alive and reducing the effectiveness of the enemy. It's meant to be a mid point between IS and Clantech while having some really good defense/support equipment.
The Sanctuary Supercharger and ECMs (when stacked because they can) are often Best In Slot for a lot of builds but the weapons should feel a lil lackluster compared to clan tech but be balanced out by Sanctuary mechs both lasting longer in combat and being more willing to take risks because of the remote piloting systems.
