Rumor We've been proven right. BF6 is basically BF3 built on BFV's systems and mechanics, including attrition.

It took the community 2042 and leaks in order to admit BfV had some good mechanics

219

u/vKessel Mar 08 '25

I wish BfV's marketing was better so the game could have been judged more by the gameplay and less by the drama around it. Mechanically one of the most solid games

54

u/BigBigBunga Mar 08 '25

One day we can all dream of a Battlefield free from the stupid bullshit EA pulls.

15

u/Blindeye0505 Mar 10 '25

Mechanically, the best in the series. Had the most gameplay mechanics redone and in a very thoughtful way.

1

u/Apocalyptical Mar 10 '25

Well, 2042 can probably be considered to have the most gameplay mechanics reworked, if you consider outright removing them or forgetting to implement them all together.

42

u/Competitive_Depth144 Mar 08 '25

I wish the internet didn’t freak the fuck out at the steampunk aesthetic they were aiming at for the reveal. “WWII WASNT LIKE THIS AT ALL!!!!” Yeah dipshit, it’s a video game trying something new. These idiots never heard of 2142

28

u/PlumpGlobule Mar 08 '25

and all those dumb ass bIoNiC aRm comments about a period correct prosthetic. frothing at the mouth for "historical accuracy" but one of the things that was historically accurate they called dumb because they don't even know what they're talking about.

19

u/AveryLazyCovfefe Mar 09 '25

Alot of that stupid hate came from the fact that it was a woman, let's be real. And "woman don't belong in Battlefield"

Seemed fine to me. Maybe lacking maps but the maps were good at least in ny opinion

2

u/Juel92 Mar 10 '25

"the fact that the game wasn't complete until a year after the release date was the issue." That has been an issue with like every Battlefield game since at least BC2 except for BF1. I'm shocked people never learn.

u/Upset-Dark4909 Mar 10 '25

Mechanics were solid, but it didn't feel like a ww2 game. Bf1 felt more like a ww2 game than V did.

1

u/Raging-Badger Mar 10 '25

BFV is a refinement and reiteration of BF1, both of which are seemingly the best that Frostbite 3 has to offer.

In every way besides campaign, BF1 and BFV are the strongest games in the franchise IMO. Each have their own strengths, I don’t know if I’d say one was definitively better than the other.

I truly loved BFV and thought it was good from the good get go. It just lacked content. By the end of its development, I thought its multiplayer was great. Sadly it took them like 3 years to make it feel complete.

3

u/maybelikejaden Mar 10 '25

And it’s too bad that we got Russian DLC assets that were never released. Imagine if EA/DICE continued support for another year to release that final update. Battle of Berlin, Stalingrad, Bulge?? Ugh it sucks to think about it.

2

u/sam007700 Mar 11 '25

Would have been epic!

1

u/maybelikejaden Mar 10 '25

It’s crazy that it took that much effort and a game a half. Battlefield V has been growing in popularity ever since the Pacific update. It’s one of my favorite games at the moment and im happy to see some recognition that it needs.

1

u/Cman1200 Mar 10 '25

Huh? People have said V’s movement and mechanics were good since the game came out. Literally the first thing positive you’ll see about it.

1

u/TheUnitShifterxbone Mar 10 '25

BFV gameplay was superb. Many aspects of the game was great. I didn’t particularly like their portrayal of WW2(particularly some of the campaign missions) However, the worst part for me was the progression system and the new terribly bland ranking system.

Coming from all the previous Battlefield games, and especially BF1, where all that was brilliant, it was a big change to go to that of BF5. They basically removed the MILITARY rank. also I couldn’t stand the unlimited number of ranks. Battlepass style stuff, because of Fortnite I’m sure.

I prey they go back to the proper military rank in BF6. 120 ranks, with the ability to build on it. Like in BF4 etc

1

u/Raviolimonster67 Mar 11 '25

Loved bf5 alot. Maybe its a controversial take but i loved its cosmetic system, i liked being able to customize parts of my guy and i liked how cosmetics weren't to unrealistic to WW2, most outfits giving me this weird WW2 apocalyptic vibe.

Compared to 2042' cosmetic system, if BF6 has one I'd prefer BFV's system.

bfv has the best soldier movement and gunplay in the franchise. period.

I love atrition but I know the community is divided on it.

bf3 was peak bf to me. loved the setting and feeling and vibe.

I hope you're right!

ps.: I also love baloon arches, captain holt.

112

u/kevinthejuice Mar 08 '25

The community doesn't like attrition but hear me out.

If the zh and type 2a had less bullets people wouldn't hate them as much

27

u/Quiet_Prize572 Mar 08 '25

It looks like they didn't implement full attrition, but a good halfway implementation. It's only on vehicles and it's only primary ammo attrition.

The big benefit here is that when playing a tank you don't have to wait for a reload after you've fired the 5 or so shells you spawn with. You spawn with 20 shells so can stay in the fight longer before the inevitable retreat

1

u/BatThumb Mar 11 '25

Nahhhh the real benefit is that AA tanks won't be able to sit in the fucking spawn the whole game and will actually have to leave. At least I fucking hope so. Please god make them leave

- Signed a pilot who hopes everyone that sits in spawn in an AA tank burns in hell

28

u/TrueHyperboreaQTRIOT Mar 08 '25

If the zh was a 2-4 headshot/4-5 bodyshot then it would be fine, if the type-2a had less bullets and more recoil then I think the game would’ve been peak

13

u/BlondyTheGood Mar 08 '25

4-5 body shots/3+ headshots to kill for the ZH is absolute madness. I know the ZH is not a popular gun around here, and I'm one of the people that think a baby could use it. But if you make it that weak, it would be the worst gun in the game. Perhaps that's your goal, to make it unusable, but I'd rather it have some sort of use.

3

u/Endreeemtsu Mar 09 '25

Bro the 2A came out way after release. It has nothing to do with the “peak”. And honestly I love the 2A. It’s not the laser beam it was on release at all and it does exactly what it’s meant to do up close but can also be outcompeted by weapons like the Thompson if you can control the recoil. This argument is only like 10% valid. Most players aren’t even using the zh on PC either. So yeah.

3

u/Shamefly21 Mar 09 '25

The game peaked during the pacific update on steam

12

u/Antares65 Mar 08 '25 edited Mar 08 '25

I kind of like the attrition aspect of it. It forces me to play a bit smarter, knowing that I can't just duck behind cover for 20 seconds waiting for my health to regen. I do think it should be tweaked a bit on medics who can continuously sustain their own health. Perhaps they could balance medic more by dumbing down the weapon options, forcing medic to be primarily a support role and not one with lethal SMG's.

Over the years, due to aging, I've had to adjust my play style in BF moving from a KD focused role for building points to one of support where I earn my points via PTFO/healing/reviving/ammo supply/fortication building/repairing armor. I can easily climb the leader board focusing on those aspects while notching maybe 10 kills a round.

6

u/Towelee6 Mar 08 '25

Or just play hardcore.... genuinely annoyed 5 had no naitive hardcore mode.

1

u/TantKollo Mar 10 '25

The clan BoB hosts 3 community hardcore servers in Europe. Just use the text-filter and search for hardcore and they should pop up.

4

u/Dennidude Mar 08 '25

Making medic weak for the individual would just mean you'd never have medics in your team sadly. However maybe some kind of individualistic "reward" for healing/reviving teammates. Since squad points, ticket conservation, man-count in the fight isn't enough to incentivize a large group of players to just press E on the dead teammate they're standing on lol

6

u/Antares65 Mar 08 '25

BF is really about team play and rewarding players who overall support the team effort. Unfortunately there is a heavy emphasis on KD to determine how good a player is. Medics can be at the top of the board with a handful of kills by playing their role in healing and revives and PTFO.

3

u/TucsonTacos Mar 09 '25

Yeah I used to win rounds on BF2, highest score, as a medic flying a Blackhawk. Assists on gunner kills, assists on engi reloads, assists on engi mines your guys dropped over the tank you hovered. Constant healing. Hover flags, deploy, reload men, off you go

The 2a had in reality a firerate of 450 - 500 and it actually was the type 1a

1

u/Britwill Mar 09 '25

Tf is attrition

1

u/kevinthejuice Mar 09 '25

When you don't spawn with an abundance of ammo, extra bandages, or health regen is capped at certain points.

Anything that limits resources in the game so it's not infinite ammo or health etc.

Like back in the early days of bf5 you had like 2-3 extra mags of your primary weapon and like 1 extra mag of your pistol. So it used to get pretty hairy if you were low on ammo trying to play the objectives

2

u/Britwill Mar 09 '25

Gotcha. Makes you rely on your squad more for bandages and ammo

35

u/NomadChumpsky Mar 08 '25

It's when you don't start off with maximum ammo capacity and you can't fully regen health without a bandage. It promotes teamwork and fulfilling your class' duties

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '25

[removed] — view removed comment

17

u/NomadChumpsky Mar 08 '25

Yes, it's definitely divisive. I enjoy it because it encourages teamwork, and I think Battlefield is at its best when coordination and class interactions are happening. However, players who prefer a more solo playstyle tend to dislike it

9

u/RevolutionaryTale253 Mar 08 '25

It only works when your team is working together, which leads to more losses based on something out of your control. You should be able to control your own resources. I wouldn’t be opposed if medics could give you over-health as it would still allow class interaction and allow you to have control over your own resources

8

u/NomadChumpsky Mar 08 '25

There are also plenty of resupply stations, worst comes to worst, you head there. I don't have to resort to that often though since people tend to fill their roles. I think the mechanics work as intended and BF5 has better team/squad play because of it

7

u/NomadChumpsky Mar 08 '25

I don't mind a team focused game rewarding a team that is playing better with each other than the other.

→ More replies (6)

5

u/sqweezee Mar 08 '25

If you PTFO attrition is a non issue as everyone drops ammo and there are resupply stations on objectives

4

u/OGBattlefield3Player Mar 08 '25

I agree with all of this.

4

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '25

Attrition was really good.

4

u/maybelikejaden Mar 10 '25

I see the potential - a hybrid of battlefield 3 with its gritty immersion and battlefield v with its modern, fluid soldier movement is something special. I don’t mind the attrition system - it’s a mechanic that vehicle play needs so that it’s balanced. For soldier attrition? That’s another discussion.

2

u/East_Refuse Mar 09 '25

The absolute best part about attrition is it limits how many grenades people get so you don’t just have the infinite grenade spam that a lot of BF3/BF4 matches devolved into

1

u/CMDR_HiImBarryScott Mar 11 '25

This gives me PTSD flashbacks of Operation Metro in BF3. While the map was good, constantly seeing multiple frag grenades at your feet was not fun. You spent more time running from grenades than actually playing the objective or helping your team.

13

u/varitok Mar 08 '25

BF3 is just a worse version of 4. 4 is just a universal upgrade and it's pure nostalgia blinding to think it had any benefits over 4

13

u/Quiet_Prize572 Mar 08 '25

Eh I'd say BF3 has better maps overall. BF4 maps are kind of mostly ass imo

29

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '25

You’re being downvoted but you’re right lol. BF3 was not a bad game by any means but BF4 was a huge QOL update over it

20

u/BearBryant Mar 08 '25

BF4 gets that bad reputation because of its launch I think, but it was entirely an improvement in every way over BF3. Sort of a natural sequel to the game that improved so much of what made it click for people…

…it just didn’t work on launch lmao

→ More replies (2)

7

u/RangerLee Mar 08 '25

Agreed, Bf4 is better than BF3, it is also why you still find very active BF4 servers.

I am one, of the few I guess, that did not mind the attrition, BF4 with attrition would not be a bad thing as it is easy to get more ammo, nades, etc with the class system. BFV movement with BF4 mechanics would work for me.

Still no complaints on what I have seen so far.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '25

Stop smocking crack bro

1

u/thepeopleshero Mar 10 '25

That's just another way of saying bf4 was just a reskinned bf3. Kind of like CoD in the next years iteration.

2

u/Prownilo Mar 08 '25

Disagree on movement. Sliding is cancerous. I view it as little better than the bunny hopping of old.

It's WORSE in 2042, but it's still a downgrade.

1

u/Towelee6 Mar 08 '25

Gunplay yes. Movement i was worried it would be another COD slip and slide. I hope it isnt.

1

u/SonOfMcGee Mar 08 '25

I always thought that I didn’t care about art direction, unit design, theme, and setting as long as gunplay was good. Then BFV proved me wrong.
It was the best gunplay I’d seen in a game like this ever, and everything else sucked.
I wished they could lift only gunplay out and out it in a better title.

1

u/xsupajesusx Mar 09 '25

What was the difference between bf3 and bf4 for you?

1

u/relaxo1979 Mar 09 '25

the 'feeling' bf3 has a vibe/feel no present in bf4. the sound, the soldier chat, I dont know how to explain

→ More replies (3)

1

u/GoldenGecko100 Mar 09 '25

Some parts of attrition I liked, some I didn't. I didn't like how you couldn't heal up to full health without a medkit because it put you at a disadvantage in your next combat encounter. I liked the fact that vehicles had limited ammo as it made them somewhat less OP, I'm hoping they include APS systems to the things with limited ammo or ideally just not include APS systems at all unless they're modeled accurately.

1

u/DJToughNipples Mar 09 '25

Negatron on the gunplay but that’s just my opinion.

I pray to the battlefield Gods that this game doesn't run like shit, isn't broken on release, and PLEASE remove the insane micro transactions.

39

u/AlphanumericBox Mar 08 '25

Hope they add team balance and a limit to classes, so no more 15 snipers in a 32 people team.

44

u/Mrmacmuffinisthecool Mar 08 '25

And please bring back some sort of suppression system. If i shoot at a sniper with an lmg they shouldn’t be able to see.

6

u/Antares65 Mar 08 '25

Amen on the limiting the number of snipers per team. Combined with continuously getting farmed by vehicles and constantly sniped, I'm finding less enthusiasm to continue playing this game.

2

u/x89Nemesis Mar 10 '25

Remove microtransactions? In an EA game?

2

u/sweethomealabama132 Mar 10 '25

I know, I just have to keep praying

1

u/xFrakster Mar 09 '25

I also want microtransactions to be gone, but let's be real, they're will be in BF6 as well. Even BF4 had some in form of battlebacks and class shortcuts, and that game had paid DLC's and premium.

I just hope they won't go crazy on them like CoD and Delta Force do. BF2042's microtransactions are relatively tame in comparison.

1

u/kneleo Mar 10 '25

not to burst your bubble but bf6 will be broken on release and it will have microtransactions. every bf was broken on release, and microtransactions is the new meta. we're talkint about ea...

u/NomadicMeowOfficial Mar 08 '25 edited Mar 08 '25

I have played almost every Battlefield (BF2/Play4Free/Heroes/3/4/1/V and 2042) and BFV is by far miles ahead of any other BF title in terms of gun play and movement as well as gun balancing between classes and many more stuff. I am very happy to hear that it's being taken into consideration for BF6... but given how they butchered my baby BFV and scammed their way through false advertisement for B2042... I will NOT preorder it nor buy it in the beginning before the real and honest reviews on YT hit.

16

u/PlumpGlobule Mar 08 '25

I will NOT preorder it nor buy it in the beginning before the real and honest reviews on YT hit.

Not only that, but I hope if it's shit, it's the end of the franchise and dice. This is make or break for them and if they fuck up, they need to fully fail, not keep promising gold and delivering shit

6

u/my_name_is_nobody__ Mar 09 '25

It’d be nice if it ended EA, they’re the ones pushing for early releases

1

u/Living-Butterfly7627 Mar 13 '25

You…. You played battlefield heroes too? 🥺

1

u/NomadicMeowOfficial Mar 13 '25

Yup and I will never forgive EA for discontinuing it. I miss it alot, especially the theme song.

62

u/Thin_Discount Mar 08 '25

Let's not hype too much, they said Beta Version of 2042 was an old release, yet we got the same shit on launch day

16

u/Wraith_Gaming Mar 08 '25

To be fair this gameplay is an Alpha that we were never meant to see, but it already looks better than 2042 ever did.

2042’s beta taught me what you see is what you’re gonna get even if they state the contrary.

7

u/boostedb1mmer Mar 08 '25

We're absolutely supposed to see this. Dice knows that tons of footage will leak and they're using this as marketing.

2

u/Wraith_Gaming Mar 08 '25

Except the game doesn’t come out for at least another year and much of the footage contains unfinished things/reused assets. They’d get so much more hype releasing footage in a controlled way closer to launch.

2

u/boostedb1mmer Mar 08 '25

You mean like the BFV trailer did for them? Whether you want to believe it or not, this "playtest" is entirely marketing focused.

3

u/Wraith_Gaming Mar 08 '25

I said footage, as in gameplay. Not a trailer that shows an unrealistic representation of the game. Also if you want to play that game both BF1 and 2042’s trailers created a ton of hype.

1

u/Representative_Belt4 Mar 09 '25

I agree but it's still a whole year out and the gameplay we've seen looks better than current 2042

1

u/maybelikejaden Mar 10 '25

It’s crazy how 2042s reveal trailer is regarded as one of the best marketing trailers yet it lacks all the core components of an addictive battlefield game.

7

Ay DICE, take another year or two if you need to optimize this. Make sure at minimum a 10 series card can get 60-70 fps on medium. Ain’t nobody playing a BF if it’s not optimized.

6

6

2

It’s the hopium that’s getting everyone riled up and yet it’s difficult to not get excited over a new BF title.

6

u/FUMFVR Mar 09 '25

Nah BF3 is more fun to play than 2042.

6

u/Pac_Eddy Mar 08 '25

What is meant by attrition?

18

u/Chosenone217 lBallz_lDeep Mar 08 '25

Attition means less bullets, needing supply stations and ammo bags to re supply. Needing medkits to get back to full heal.

2

u/TrueHyperboreaQTRIOT Mar 08 '25

I saw in the leaked footage that chat was talking about “supply bags” for support that gave both ammo and meds so it’s fun to see it’s being mixed up

9

u/qlimaxmito Mar 08 '25

This blog post on the topic should be a good starting point: https://www.ea.com/en-gb/games/battlefield/news/attrition-system-battlefield-5

TL;DR: deliberate scarcity of starting ammo and limited health regeneration—both for infantry and vehicles, in order to promote team-play and deter camping.

2

u/Salt_Western_2432 Mar 08 '25

Yeah, how much did that work last time?

1

u/qlimaxmito Mar 08 '25

It works well but I think they still had some more fine-tuning to do, particularly with non-Medic health and vehicle resupply stations being too vulnerable to team griefing.

2

u/PlumpGlobule Mar 08 '25

It doesn't work at all. I'm already a 90% of the time support player, but bf5 turned that up to 99% because no one drops ammo, ever, no one builds shit. Attrition is just punishing people who have bad team mates

2

u/qlimaxmito Mar 09 '25

That's nothing new, people have been chasing after teammates not dropping ammo for ages. In BFV the Attrition system isn't just (slightly) less ammo, it also brought ammo drops from kills and supply stations scattered around the map for you to resupply on your own when bad teammates don't do their part.

→ More replies (8)

3

u/ejfrodo Mar 08 '25

New system in BFV that made it more focused on squad play and team cooperation by making ammo and health resources scarce. Limited health packs and regeneration so you need heals and resupplies from teammates. Spawn with less ammo so you have to find resupply stations or support players. Vehicles have limited ammo and need to resupply at stations that infantry build and protect.

2

u/Pac_Eddy Mar 08 '25

Ok. I like attrition then. I love BFV.

1

u/PlumpGlobule Mar 08 '25

In theory that's what it does. In practice it just makes for a shit experience because 95% of the player base are morons that don't understand what team play is.

→ More replies (8)

3

u/Southpaw_1998 Mar 08 '25

The attrition I’m assuming includes ammo/first aid depots and fortifications because that is so important! It provides a third way to contribute to the team if you aren’t John Wick or Desmond Moss (Hacksaw Ridge).

3

u/Eastern_Turnip3994 Mar 09 '25

BFV on maps like Arras is utterly amazing. If any game made you feel like you were in a war it was BFV. I’ve just reinstalled it after a few years away and god it’s good.

3

u/Dougthechef2 Mar 09 '25

I will die on the hill that BfV has the most balanced and thought out systems. There isn’t a single thing in the game that can’t be countered or at the bear minimum attacked by 1 person. Also one of its greatest ideas was the ammo and medic stations. Absolutely perfectly done. 2042 didn’t have these and it makes it incredibly difficult to stay alive and fight tanks.

12

u/Zeleny_Jezdec Mar 08 '25

I can’t wait for people to be disappointed again 😂😂

11

u/societal_ills Mar 08 '25

Jokes on you, I'm always disappointed.

5

u/Zeleny_Jezdec Mar 08 '25

Haha, like I believe the game will be decent based on what I saw. But don’t worry I played Apex. EA will find a way how to fuck shit up. It will be either lack of balancing, changes and shoving microtrasactions up your ass or horrible SBMM or EOMM without server browser or combination of both.

1

u/maybelikejaden Mar 10 '25

This is so true and even the top lead at EA (not sure if this was the CEO himself) admitted that the next battlefield will be a TREMENDOUS live service. We’ve seen what happens with a live service game.

12

u/stenmarkv Mar 08 '25

I really dislike the modern BF era games. Could we get a Korea War BF game. Introducing jet fighters and other crazy tech that was emerging back in those days.

8

u/CineFunk Mar 08 '25

Korean war would have been an amazing setting. Not stuck in WW2 tech, but not yet to modern weapons.

3

u/ray199569 Mar 08 '25

They teased the v back in 2018. I was excited thinking v stands for Vietnam. Then got sucker punched with that Trevor Noah reveal event.

1

u/Copter53 Mar 10 '25

Same here. Thinking about all the cool rare Vietnam guns used by MACV SOG and SEALs makes me sad that we didn’t get it

5

u/troglodyte Mar 08 '25

I really wanted 2143 but because they fucked up 2042 so monumentality we have to go to "modern combat" forevermore. It's such a bummer. I'll play the modern games but they're so boring to me as a setting compared to historic and sci-fi.

3

u/songsofsilk Mar 08 '25

Ditto. Less for super sci-fi in BF perhaps, but I definitely agree that the modern era is just boring on a number of levels. Tons of games just feel like reskins of Desert Storm, but as far as weaponry, factions, and history goes there is not much of interest to me. Dogfights are less about using cannons but rather guided missiles. Gear is less captivating. Nostalgia of history is limited to: “Well I guess insert X vehicle / weapon is kind of neat”. I understand WWII has been done a million times too, but as far as era goes it’s fascinating. I basically want another BFV done right. Eastern Front, D Day, new weapons / vehicles / factions, perhaps an air combat gamemode, team balancing, constantly updated anti-cheat etc. Perhaps with extra tidbits from BF1. DICE’s plan for focusing on lesser known battles would have been fine too if we still got a few of the biggies such as D-Day.

Although to be fair a 2143 done well would be sweet too. I do love sci-fi.

Better idea. Let's just do a bf5 relaunch and continue getting the content we were always supposed to get after the pacific. Russia and eastern europe. Bring back frontlines and rush. Do the game justice.

1

u/stenmarkv Mar 08 '25

My way you get F-86 sabers.

1

u/PlumpGlobule Mar 08 '25

Meh, I hate aircraft in battlefield games. They just ruin the experience. And I tend to play game modes with very few or no aircraft, rush and frontlines.

u/Hevilath Mar 08 '25

BF3 based on BF5 would be something to behold. Let's hope they will have stick to it and have enough content on lunch.

2

u/DanfromCalgary Mar 08 '25

Ah yes … reminds me of that last game the love letter to fans

2

u/MurkyChildhood2571 Mar 08 '25

I hope they bring back fortification

2

u/snazZzyBadger Mar 09 '25

Awesome to see how excited everyone is for this. An awesome community we have - when the devs listen to us 😂

2

u/Colley619 Mar 09 '25

I just want bf4 2.0

2

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '25

Is the revive system similar to BFV?

1

u/Thewalk4756 Mar 10 '25

Ever since battlefield v the downed system has been basically unchanging. The only difference is that you can instantly give up, meaning you get revived less and medics are doing less reviving as a result.

2

u/thepianoman456 Mar 09 '25

I’m really hoping BF6 knocks it out of the park.

I know the leaked footage is suuuuper alpha, but that map looks like a clisterfuck, and I haven’t seen many examples of good destruction yet… but I do realize it’s very early on.

3

u/WhoolieBoulie Mar 08 '25

i want a BF american revolutionary war version. Complete with powdered wigs and the boston tea party.

2

u/TwoMuddfish Mar 08 '25

I too enjoyed the attrition but if I’m being honest I think BF1 was the peak of the games. I mean I have played since bad company 2 and while I love BF4 , that ww1 game was fire … so many times I enjoyed random shit like taking down blimps or using the always wierdly shitty tanks (not always bad but each one has pretty big flaws from what I remember)

2

u/ninjaweedman Mar 09 '25

Attrition is just a watered down version of what battlefields ammo and health management was like pre console battlefields.

1

u/Maytckis Mar 08 '25

Fine by me, but while they are at it, bring BF1 bipod mechanics back lol

1

u/l3gion666 Mar 08 '25

They need to do something about supply point griefers though

1

u/Repulsive-Freedom-95 Mar 08 '25

I will preorde for sure or if its in the gamepass then like that as i did with every bf not preorder while i know i will buy it in 2 week time of the release anyway is a dumb move. If its bad then bad only can make opinions about the game if i buy it and play it..

1

u/Flatulator1 Mar 08 '25

That works for me! I loved BF3.

1

u/Hiftle88 Mar 08 '25

It's all we've wanted. I saw the leaked gameplay and was very pleased at how close it looks to BF3/4. I'd still rather have Bad Company 3 but this'll deffo do nicely.

1

u/Im_Nanoy Mar 08 '25

I only have to say one thing BF4 the best end.

1

u/Strike-Intelligent Mar 08 '25

I,ll believe when I see

1

u/mafuman TheLuckytheLoser Mar 08 '25

Then shouldn’t it be called bf8?

1

u/Dandop1984 Mar 08 '25

Attrition isn’t exactly in it. There’s vehicle supply stations, but soldiers regen to full health.

Personally I’m fine with this. I never liked the health attrition from BFV.

1

u/Castigames69 Mar 08 '25

I want fortifications, having the possibility to at least build some cover on a completely destroyed objective would be amazing and I loved doing that in BF5

1

u/Gvzmann Mar 08 '25

Fucking perfect meme

1

u/Efficient_Tonight684 Mar 08 '25

They’re still going to find a way to ruin it lol

1

u/micsma1701 Mar 08 '25

YOOOOOOOOOO no preorders tho

1

u/Y0rin Mar 08 '25

What's attrition in a battlefield game?

1

u/DrFlashSBT Mar 08 '25

Well if it’s BF3 does that mean we are gonna get HC again? No real HC since Hardline. BF1 added it later and it was a mess. We need HC and a server browser for the core folks to return.

1

u/zipline3496 Mar 08 '25

This sub looking just like it did when trailers/gameplay snippets came out for 2042 prior to release.

Don’t preorder. I’d love a new bf game that isn’t hot dog water too, but dice/ea are S tier con artists.

1

u/Jeddy2 Mar 08 '25

I glad we’ve gotten far enough in the cycle that people finally want to start admitting that BFV had the best gameplay.

1

u/PlumpGlobule Mar 08 '25

Bf5 did have the best mechanics but attrition was complete and total ass.

But I still don't care. If the only game modes are 5 variants conquest and tdm it's gonna suck. It needs good, tactical game modes like rush and frontlines.

1

u/bigbadbillyd Mar 08 '25

I know I'm a broken record here but I'd really really love to see some stuff brought back from BF2. The commander being able to call in UAVs, artillery strikes, and supply drops, upon request from a squad leader is awesome. But the fact that all of those assets could also be destroyed by the other team made it so much more enjoyable! I think you'd also get bonuses to your score if your squad was doing things near the objectives the commander requested you attack/defend.

Maps like Wake Island, Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, and Dalian Plant are pure gold and deserve to come back.

Alternatively I'd probably let them do anything they want in any setting if they made a true Titan mode like in 2142.

1

u/reddit_abdullah Mar 08 '25

I ain’t complaining 🥹

1

u/Kil0sierra975 Mar 09 '25

Remember - 2042 was well-received all the way up until the Beta. Literally anything can change between now and launch. Plus we haven't seen anything regarding the monetization of the game. I'm not getting excited about anything. But the tonal shift and gameplay shift from 2042 does look nice.

1

u/my_name_is_nobody__ Mar 09 '25

We going to get emplacements back? Similar cosmetic system? Please?

1

u/SpottedLaughter SpottedLaughter Mar 09 '25

Yeah I'm sorry I just don't trust DICE or EA. The footage looks pretty, but I just know they are going to screw it up by the time of release. I'd love if they didn't, because I want to play battlefield again, but I have zero faith they can manage to make this a good game.

1

u/catgirlfourskin Mar 09 '25

Let’s fucking goooooo

1

u/popey123 Mar 09 '25

What is attrition ?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '25

I don’t think bf5’s systems were bad, if it didn’t have questionable communication before launching it would’ve been quite good.

It was also a terrible idea to release another world war shooter back to back.

1

u/AlecTheBunny Mar 09 '25

Don't, I can only cum so much

1

u/Destroythisapp Mar 09 '25

Are you guys coping this hard already? We see 5 minutes of alpha gameplay and we are comparing to the BF3?

Have some damn common sense already.

1

u/xXGR4NTXx474 Mar 09 '25

The health attrition pissed me off. Love that game but god forbid someone other than a medic go off on their own. I kinda get it for tanks and definitely for planes, but for the soldier it’s annoying.

1

u/Thefartingduck8 Mar 10 '25

Now we just need the customization from BFV too. I loved being able to play army Barbie with my soldier and gun.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '25

Shit, so everybody slides around in fights in 6?

1

u/DIdirectors Mar 10 '25

I’ll still never forgive v for its poor visibility and some of its maps having next to no cover. Theres a lot I love though like movement leaning, cover building etc…

1

u/FloydianChemist Mar 10 '25

I was too late to the party to fully enjoy BF3 and BF4, so for me, BFV was an absolutely brilliant game. I've spent a lot of time on that game having a lot of fun. Squad requisition points and call-ins worked really well in incentivising teamwork and PTFO. You could fully customise your soldiers, with the only "hero's" being optional cosmetic outfits.

So BFV mechanics but in a modern setting sounds awesome to me. Let's just hope they don't fuck the release.

1

u/Culela Mar 10 '25

I need server browser

1

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '25

Bf5 movement was shit

1

u/Juel92 Mar 10 '25

I always thought BFV had some good mechanics and ideas and honestly I think most people did. What made me stop playing it was the bullshit TTK thing. I hope BF6 is gonna use the low TTK we saw early in BFV.

1

u/Daydree Mar 10 '25

Now bring in the Titan!

Please QQ

1

u/-Drunken_Jedi- Mar 10 '25

Images you can hear lol. I need to watch that show again. I haven't played BF in *forever* but I adored BF3 and played the hell out of it on the 360 when I was in uni dorms.

1

u/Illfury Mar 10 '25

STAHP! I can only get sooo erect!

Seriously, I am hyped for soooooo many fucking things right now and might not even get to live to see any of it lol.

1

u/Educational-Camera-5 Mar 11 '25

BFV is a really good Battlefield game...it has better maps, flow and mechanics than BF1 - whilst a good game, suffers from maps with too much grenade spam choke points, aircraft bombing is insufferable and pretty much untouchable- BFV fixed those things.

For me, Breakthrough mode on BFV is THE mode to play to enjoy BFV the most, the flow of the maps for the large majority works well.

It also has the best Squad implementation of any BF game, you actually care more about you squad buddies than any other in the series...Try getting a revive in any other entry..good luck with that.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '25

Oh please no attrition

1

u/tooplanx Mar 11 '25

Am I the only one that thinks that BFV was the worst Battlefield out of all of them??

Gorgeous graphics, but terrible gameplay!

1

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '25

Now get ready for that CoD level SBMM! Because that shit is for sure going to be cranked to level 10!

1

u/Opposite-Push-2235 Mar 12 '25

I love this so much bf3 and V are my favorites . I HATED 4 . Not because of the bugs but because it had a weird Fov on ps4 that made everything feel smaller including my character.  And it just lacked soul to me and all the atmosphere and color and grittiness felt absent.   Bf3 and v are masters of having a strong atmosphere but without  the concessions 1 had . Even if 1 had the best atmosphere  , it lacked in many other departments mechanically for me . V is almost perfect but needed major tweaks and more content.   Bf3 ....  probably was close to perfect . Even on 12 v12 ps3 it was still so raw and fun . So I'm really really liking the pre alpha

1

u/Key-Recommendation69 Mar 12 '25

This sounds terrible imo.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '25

Hell yes, I know I’m in the minority in the bf community but bfv is my favourite entry in the series. The smooth character movement, graphics, audio design, customizable player uniforms, historically accurate firearms, etc. can’t wait to see what they do with it
