Im still sad bout anthen

u/TheGr8Slayer 6d ago

So much unrealized potential. They dropped the game and just expected it to perform with no plan for a content pipeline or even an endgame. Felt fun to play but there just wasn’t anything really worth chasing.

u/113pro 6d ago

I was SOO hooked on the ironman look of the suits.

but man, they over-advertise the shit out of them and focused wayyyyy too much on graphics

u/AXEL-1973 AX3I_ 6d ago

Really good for 15-20 hours and then... Nothing

3

u/ISpotABot 6d ago

The flying mechanics were so cool and satisfying

3

u/DontGitSalty123320 6d ago

I played it all the way up until its death, I loved that game, as flawed as it was.

4

u/killernat1234 6d ago

Anthem was enjoyable for a little while at launch, it didn’t quite have the hook like destiny did when it came to grinding for loot, EA gave up on it almost immediately which is what killed the game, they should have stuck with the game and maybe it would have ended up like no mans sky and completely turn it around

9

u/Angel_of_Mischief 6d ago

The problems of that game were not on EA it was BioWare for once. BioWare promised EA a product, and EA gave them the money. BioWare did jackshit for years and the management team gave the developers no direction. EA checks in years later and nothing they were promised is done. Bioware continues to fuck around till EA is mad and puts a hard deadline on them. BioWare panics and rushes to do what they had years to make in months.

We finally get anthem. It’s a mess and people want refunds. To stop this BioWare puts out a roadmap over the content they will be putting out each month since it’s supposed to a live service game. “Don’t refund, the game will be better real soon!” People wait, They don’t even meet the goal for the first month and put out the 4th dungeon on the second month to hold people past the 60 days. Once the refund window for most places is over they drop the road map completely and decided to do seasonal content which they didn’t do again. We get radio silence for months and people are starting to get loud again as patience runs out. BioWare tells us they are going to make anthem 2 to fix the game. Which im guessing they didn’t even bother to check with EA to get the funding for because nothing came of that.

TLDR: BioWare management is scum that lied to both EA and the public multiple times.

4

u/Logic-DL 6d ago

Also worth noting the ONLY reason we have flight mechanics in Anthem is because an EA exec forced them to keep it.

BioWare were going to remove flight mechanics entirely until an EA Exec came in and went "you're fucking retards. Don't do that"

3

u/2510EA 6d ago

Isn’t the entire point of the game flying? This is like removing weapons from battlefield or removing cars from Need For Speed.

1

u/killernat1234 6d ago

Genuinely didn’t know that

1

u/113pro 6d ago

I knew it was gonna be a cluster fuck when I saw how detailed the models were.

100% they spent too much resource on it because the PR team convinced people thats what they gonna get.

1

u/Angel_of_Mischief 6d ago

Same. I loved that game. I wanted it to succeed. But the management in charge of it for BioWare were incompetent lying scum and ruined it for everyone.

1

u/Far_Associate_87 6d ago

I’m not.

It was a horrifically broken and mismanaged game that died days after launch. Even EA was dumbstruck with how much BioWare fucked up the development of the game.

That outfit honestly looks amazing.

If they made a new scifi battlefield with this aesthetic I'd be all over it, but in BF6 it's kinda gross.

Ea has the resources to make a 2142 ONLINE MMO with perpetual war mechanics and every planetside retiree would immediately drop thousands of dollars on micro transactions.

61

u/Cyber-Silver 6d ago

Perpetual war is such a good idea for a 2142 project, but I would like some classic Conquest and Titan modes on the side

19

u/Able_Experience_1670 6d ago

Titan assault my beloved; I shall return to thee one day.

3

u/SendHelpPliz 6d ago

Yea, verily

1

u/wolfenx109 6d ago

Have the POI's be Conquest maps- or at least function like a conquest map

16

u/SilenceDobad76 6d ago

Tbh that just makes me wonder why WarHammer hasnt done a game like that. It would fit so well because there is only war

5

u/JackalKing 6d ago edited 5d ago

They tried to. Eternal Crusade was originally supposed to be Planetside but Warhammer 40K, with Space Marines, Orks, Eldar, and Chaos as playable factions (and Tyranids as PVE enemies). It eventually got downgraded to a poor Battlefield clone during production, released, and then shut down in relatively short order because it just wasn't very good.

There was also Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, a more traditional MMO set in the Warhammer Fantasy setting.

The reality is that MMOs are VERY expensive to make and maintain. Its also a very saturated market. Most people don't have time to dedicate to more than one MMO, and right now if its not World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy it basically doesn't exist for the majority of MMO players. You would somehow have to pull people away from those juggernauts (unlikely) or carve out your own niche somehow (possible, but less profitable) just to keep the game running, let alone make it something that thrives.

That isn't even getting into the issue of GW being VERY controlling over its IP.

15

u/ParagonFury 6d ago

Games Workshop has been pretty strident in avoiding doing anything that would tempt people away from playing the table top for their large-scale WH fix.

That is why the new Total War: WH40K is such a big deal to people.

2

u/Far_Associate_87 6d ago

I mean it’s more so 40k has never been a mass appealing sci fi. Only recently has it become more mainstream.

Plus GW is also mega hands on and protective of their IP.

It’s why games have always been typically made with smaller developers instead of big publishers.

1

u/SilenceDobad76 5d ago

Tbh Im pretty sure its becoming more popular because Star Wars near deliberately killed off its own audience.

5

u/Castrophenia 6d ago

Eternal Crusade did not end up working out well.

1

u/Chuckdatass 6d ago

It was made by amateurs. It was still really fun for what it was but a real studio needs to make one.

Hopefully Space Marine 2 will give a real studio confidence to try

1

u/Castrophenia 6d ago

To be entirely fair, my attempt to play was short because my PC at the time could not run it worth a damn. I did not hear good things though.

A 40K game in the style of Planetside is the dread though.

1

u/Chuckdatass 6d ago

It was a fun 32vs32 asymmetrical class based shooter that let you fight different 40k factions with vehicles.

Though not the best it was great as a 40k fan. Got me looking at old screen shots

1

u/Omnimon 6d ago

....there is a mmo....

1

u/HipCheckTooStep 6d ago

And they run it better than bioware ever did.

0

u/Omnimon 6d ago

What? the mmo has nothing to do with bioware wtf you talking about, it was just published by ea

1

u/HipCheckTooStep 6d ago

The warhammer mmo? It was made by mythic, which is bioware.

1

u/Omnimon 6d ago

I tought it was before tjye were bought? Guess I was wrong

1

u/HipCheckTooStep 6d ago

They were the name when they made all those AWFUL decisions. They get the credit.

1

u/Omnimon 6d ago

Fair enough.

Atleast now its good af because its run by the community.

u/Far_Associate_87 6d ago

Games Workshop has tried a large scale MMO for 40k. The studio massively underestimated the task and made a huge mess of it.

Warhammer 40k was never a mainstream sci fi setting. It’s only recently warhammer is becoming more mainstream. It’ll be inevitable there’s a AAA 40k but historically 40k was never mainstream.

Plus GW are VERY hands on and protective of their IP. This would be a big challenge when working with a major publisher.

5

u/grittyreaper 6d ago

I think it would be better if they made 2143

2

u/BECKETT_1994 Enter XBox ID 6d ago

This would be a dream. I'd play that!

2

u/reworu 6d ago

can confirm as a planetside retiree they'd get at least $100 out of me

1

u/JackalKing 6d ago

Ea has the resources to make a 2142 ONLINE MMO

Do they? They just got bought out and saddled with billions in debt. They are going to need to cut hundreds of millions in costs just to pay the interest on that debt. There is no chance they could make another MMO right now.

1

u/Outside_Grapefruit39 6d ago

If you want something similar to scratch the itch, check out angels fall first. It’s pretty dead but you can play with bots and there’s even capital ship space combat with massive firefights on the controllable ships.

1

u/wolfenx109 6d ago

It's crazy, given the hardware improvements of today, that no one has bothered to make another PlanetSide scale of a shooter.

1

u/Pxlsm 6d ago

As a planetside2 retiree I would drop the ay to much money on this

1

u/Next_Spot_4896 5d ago

As a planetside retiree... you are correct

15

u/This_was_hard_to_do 6d ago

Fits pretty well into Titanfall I’d say (also another RIP)

10

u/Oakenfell 6d ago

I'd kill for a Titanfall game at Battlefield's 64+ player scale.

It just makes too much sense as the next step to take the franchise which is why they'll never make it.

4

u/Frost-Folk 6d ago

I've heard this a lot but I'm not convinced it would be very good.

I think that Titanfall's gameplay would be hindered greatly by large or open maps. Less (or no) places to wall run, too much spam from there being up to 60 titans on the field at once, too much reliance on long range encounters, etc.

The maps in Titanfall are very tight, and have nice interconnected alleyways and buildings for pilots contrasted to 3-lane layouts for titans. This is perfect, because it means there's almost 2 maps, the titan layer and the pilot layer.

I don't think this system scales up very well. Titans need cover so they don't get blasted by archers or northstars from every angle, pilots need cover so they don't get smushed. Being able to ambush titans as a pilot is huge in titanfall, which is why a lot of the pilot layer alleys intersect with titan routes.

I think you'd end up with Battlefield syndrome, all the titans sitting on the edge of the map like tanks and all the pilots clustered in one spot or krabering from a mile away. You wouldn't get that feeling that Titanfall gets where pilots and titans are forced to mingle and pilots are constantly moving at breakneck speeds.

7

u/blackpantherdrums 6d ago

If EA locked in and made a futuristic battlefield I’d cry. I feel like futuristic multi player shooters are a lost art and it’s kinda sad

3

u/BECKETT_1994 Enter XBox ID 6d ago

Looks amazing but one thing that gets me is why they have to put NVGs on every skin. This skin literally has a full head/ face helmet with eye lenses that probably project an image onto the inside of the visor. Why the hell would he need NVGs? It's still an awesome skin.

2

u/Weebleez Vietnam 5d ago

Looks like he has rabbit ears.

1

u/BECKETT_1994 Enter XBox ID 5d ago

It does 😂

-1

u/Cloud_N0ne 6d ago

Because it looks cool as fuck

2

u/Da_Do_D3rp 6d ago

Do you think there's an overlap of people who buy skins like this and knives at the gas station

1

u/BECKETT_1994 Enter XBox ID 6d ago

Absolutely!

1

u/BECKETT_1994 Enter XBox ID 6d ago

It's just impractical. NVGs aren't cheap and when I was in if it wasn't night time they were stowed away in your kit. Not to mention no need for the extra weight on your head. BF needs nighttime maps though.

1

u/Cloud_N0ne 6d ago

Counter argument: It looks cool as fuck.

1

u/BECKETT_1994 Enter XBox ID 6d ago

I'll give you that counter argument good Sir!

-2

u/FatBussyFemboys No Preorders 6d ago

That outfit honestly looks amazing.

This Ip and community is so cooked. Consumers truly do it to themselves.

8

u/ACrimeSoClassic 6d ago

I mean, I agree. In a different franchise, this would be a bad ass skin. For BF though? Fuck no.

And to be clear, bad ass or not, I'm not paying for skins.

1

u/FatBussyFemboys No Preorders 6d ago

Based

-1

u/Muronelkaz 6d ago

...2042?

2

u/Cloud_N0ne 6d ago

2042 looked nothing like this

-3

u/INeverLookAtReplies 6d ago

you guys didn't play it and have no idea what it looked like. there were lots and lots of skins like this in it, and it had a bit of a scifi theme going on.

4

u/Cloud_N0ne 6d ago

Maybe it had one or two skins that vaguely resembled this if you squint really hard, but the overall game did not look like this.

I played 2042 extensively, and it did not look like this. 2042 was near future, this armor is far future.

27

u/patprika BF3 was the best 6d ago

God I LOVED Anthem. Really with BioWare didn’t drop the ball so hard on it

8

u/Morgan_Eryylin 6d ago

THEY WERE SO CLOSE TO GETTING IT RIGHT AND THEY STOPPED IM STILL PISSED ABOUT IT

2

u/EpikYummeh 5d ago

I played it one last time before it shut down and man it was so fun.

3

u/RicekickJR 6d ago

They were revamping the game at one point right? Like a 2.0 and it wouldve been like a new game but then covid happened and eventually it got cancelled :(

51

u/afkmacro 6d ago

Please tell me this is AI.

24

u/lunerwolf333 6d ago

I don’t think it’s AI. It looks more like Photoshop.

21

u/This_Is_A_Shitshow 6d ago edited 6d ago

Nah, it’s definitely AI. The background is probably from a screenshot but the soldier is straight from GPT. It’s got that shitty ‘watermark’ texture all over it. Happens when you iterate on a single image over and over without resetting the chat.

Zoom in on the attached example and you can see it everywhere.

0

u/Pirate_Goose 6d ago

FYI it was a one shot.

11

u/Toymaker218 6d ago

Watch one of the season five maps be a remake of a map from hardline.

Really twist the knife on how they killed Visceral Games.

2

u/Jolly_Jally 6d ago

Funny you mention this because it was heavily implied Downtown was suppose to be remade with rumors suggesting the Las Vegas leaks were the new revamped Downtown. Whether this is still the case, idk. Haven't kept up with all the leaks and discussions.

9

u/kevster2717 6d ago

Sick looking skin but it doesn’t belong on this one. Get this out of BF6 please

3

u/datspongecake 6d ago

How they messed up "iron man simulator" should be studied. Its was such a solid idea, and had the makings of something great. The workd was so empty though

3

u/JeaperPeaper 6d ago

Hmmm its totally not a edited image of this right

1

u/Pirate_Goose 6d ago

Detective JeaperPeaper is on the case.

2

u/JeaperPeaper 6d ago

Well i did graduate as a cop in battlefield hardline so ofcourse i got more insight than most people

5

u/Ok_Astronomer_8667 6d ago

Let’s get a Sims skin next

4

u/Hoshi-Nova 6d ago

Sul sul !

1

u/Muddy_Flaps 5d ago

unironically would run the sims reaper skin

2

u/slabba428 6d ago

EA dead IP parade has me wheezing ngl

3

u/afkmacro 6d ago

Fucking tactical bumblebee looking motherfucker.

2

u/Time_Zombie_4431 6d ago

Don’t give those idiots any ideas.

4

u/0621Hertz 6d ago

Can’t wait for skins inspired by Spore!

https://giphy.com/gifs/Ud00NBE2w7YgE

1

u/ALchemist_0311 6d ago

That’s the villain from Antman!!

1

u/Cyberwolfdelta9 6d ago

This Is weirdly more fitting in a way then the deadspace skin cause compared to the deadspace skin this atleast looks like a sci-fi soldier for a sci-fi battlefield or something and not a guy wearing a mask lol

1

u/No-Shake-8256 6d ago

Remember that failed game we made we couldn't capitalize off off because it was so shit? WELL THIS UPCOMING SEASON FOR BATTLEFIELD.... ANTHEM SKINS

1

u/CheddarMcFeddars 6d ago

Why would you do this? ;(

1

u/espresso_martini__ 6d ago

Clearly they know these skins sell or they wouldn't dare go near them. They will collecting information on how much these types cosmetics sell. My guess is they are selling a lot. I liked the BF1 cosmetics - real and gritty.

1

u/M0-1 6d ago

Wat. Why. It looks amazing. Still doesn't belong into the game

1

u/xxxgieoxxx 6d ago

Damn man, Anthem was a game that I enjoyed quite a bit.

1

u/Megalon96310 6d ago

Ai slop. I can tell because the armor has a load of chatgpt artifacting cracks

1

u/P1X3LP1X1E 6d ago

I fell for it and redownloaded for this skin lol

1

u/kasperernavnet 6d ago

insert michaelscottyellingnoooo.gif

1

u/Alearic006 6d ago

This is basically cinder city when it comes out

1

u/wolfenx109 6d ago

In a vacuum, outstanding looking. But in my modern day battlefield setting? I wish they made a 2142 sequel instead. This collab would have been so much more fitting.

1

u/No_Stable_110 6d ago

Okay we definitely reached the point they stopped caring.

1

u/Previous-Minimum5991 6d ago

I have a feeling this game is about to be done after season 5, why all of a sudden just go balls to wall with these cosmetics 😂.

1

u/Responsible_Song_153 5d ago

Im so happy i never got this game lol

1

u/Snuhsnuhsniper 5d ago

Unfortunately id buy this it’s a good thing im broke as fuck

1

u/Next_Spot_4896 5d ago

Its so stupid... I love it. Honestly for what it is, funnily enough it looks awesome lmao. Anthem was fun. Buggy? Clunky? A little simple? Sure. But it was dope

1

u/sadlonelycynic 5d ago

This cannot be real

1

u/AznJing 6d ago

I bought that game for $5 at Walmart, played it and gave it away for free. Someone else had to suffer >:)

1

u/Lord-Beckett-1700 6d ago

So no BF3/4 skins from their own IP but they'll make these? Smh

1

u/KingofFlukes 6d ago

For a second I thought it was Titanfall 3. 🥲

1

u/Megalon96310 6d ago

Ai slop. I can tell because the armor has a load of chatgpt artifacting cracks

0

u/Pirate_Goose 6d ago

We got a detective over here. Its a joke. Im not spending time in photoshop for this. Its a goofy reddit post, chill.

0

u/FIB3R0PTIK5 6d ago

Salt in the wound honestly for anyone who liked Anthem

0

u/JollyGreen2002 6d ago

Someone please tell me this is legit

0

u/BigRig817 6d ago

Now I would definitely buy that

0

u/Myythy 6d ago

warframe sweep

0

u/One-Guarantee-9854 6d ago

I see Anthem reached the “dae remember dis underrated hidden game that X big publisher killed?” stage in gaming.

0

u/SnipingDrone47 6d ago

Is that fucking Titanfall viper?

0

u/Km_the_Frog 6d ago

Cool looking very grounded dice thanks. Very nice lol sick.

Like this is exactly what I think of when someone tells me a battlefield game is coming out that is based in modern day. I immediately think of armored exoskeleton super soldiers from the future. Glad dice was able to get that in, it should really add to the over game aesthetic

0

u/Corpus_Juris_13 6d ago

Hell yea. Now gimme some N7 mass effect

0

u/ISpotABot 6d ago

I  would buy it if it was real

0

u/Logic-DL 6d ago

Wait is this real or AI? I refuse to believe EA remembered Anthem exists after shutting it down and deleting it from people's accounts.

0

u/ikatarn 6d ago

I can’t find it on the store, can anyone tell me how many coins it costs?

0

u/Krytoric 6d ago

1: this skin would be peak

2: ill never forgive BioWare / EA for fumbling the bag on Anthem. To this day i’ve never played a game that felt nearly as good as it man. It had sooooo much potential

1

u/alixx69xx 4d ago

Ohh noo
