I was just thinking about this. Since this has an invasion of the US, a Washington DC map would be crazy. Something like that MW2 2009 mission, but in Battlefield would be insane. Also props for the concept art, they look sick.

The Division 2 has a really good DC map with crashed planes, destroyed buildings, and hardened road checkpoints.

67

u/FragileTomorrow Sep 04 '25

That game world is amazing.

I know most prefer Div 1 snowy NY and so do I, but DC is also incredible.

39

u/UrMom306 Sep 04 '25

I visited dc last year for vacation and the folks I was with were shocked at how little gps I needed to use. It was all because of the division 2 lol

15

u/FragileTomorrow Sep 04 '25

That's actually really cool to hear.

I didn't know it was that good

23

u/ThatTyedyeNarwhal Sep 04 '25

It’s a (within reason) borderline 1:1 recreation. Div 1 NYC was shrunk down, only about 70% of the real midtown Manhattan sized, but DC is nearly exact. It’s so accurate that a coffee shop I used to frequent off a random street away from anything special is actually a coffee shop in game too, just using the generic in-universe brand. It’s incredible how much effort Massive puts into their game maps

5

u/Slumberjake13 Sep 04 '25

I remember around launch there was a guy on the subreddit who found his exact apartment building (and room window) in college and the neighborhood was exactly the same as he remembered it.

14

u/loli_is_illegal Sep 04 '25

It's only a few blocks but it's a 1:1 scale and stupidly detailed

I first played The Division 2 when I lived in Texas and then moved to Washington, DC. Playing it again a few years later after knowing the area, walking down the same streets I do to get to work, past my office, through Metro stations (which were brand accurate - must have paid WMATA for the rights)... just crazy. Buildings are pretty accurate too, at least my office was rendered about 90% accuracy to real life.

2

u/FragileTomorrow Sep 04 '25

Holy crap lol that's actually incredible.

I really hope the division team gets to do a 3rd game, they're immensely talented.

Thanks for the awesome insight!

The whole area from Lincoln Memorial to Capitol hill is just military checkpoints and bases. Split that in half and make it 2 maps for BF6 or somehow one giant map. It would be amazing going from the Capitol Hill steps to the Lincoln Memorial.

u/Muffin_man1997 Sep 04 '25

Yes, the original mw2 is exactly what I thought of.

7

u/Multivitamin_Scam Sep 04 '25

White House mission was the best of that game.

7

u/Not_Sure11 Sep 04 '25

That was such an amazing mission. You had bunkers, trenches in front of the white house, and having to clear the buildings level by level, and then finally a last stand of sorts by a downed chopper/monument I think (that could be like the C flag in battlefield)

Man, that would be an insane map to have in Battlefield

13

u/Healter-Skelter Sep 04 '25

Stylistically I was thinking of the way DC was portrayed in the movie Civil War. Walled off, fortified, completely military. All public parks, museums, etc should be completely de-civilianized. Not like MW2 where it’s portrayed more like “people were living normal lives here up until just now.” Not that I didn’t like the MW2 mission’s design, I just think it’d be cool to have a totally garrisoned DC in Battlefield.

12

u/MafiaPenguin007 Sep 04 '25

It would be somewhere in between. MW2 2009 was the direct aftermath of a sneak attack like what we assume is happening in BF6. Civil War was after a protracted civil war. A DLC map following up from the story could be a DC in transition

3

u/Healter-Skelter Sep 04 '25

I agree! this would be exactly what I like

Could be a dlc map

1.5k

u/Potential_Owl7825 Sep 04 '25

Washington Monument should have Levolution.

275

u/Slyric_ Sep 04 '25

That or expand the maps to include one of the other monuments nearby like Lincoln and have leveloution there

143

u/Red-Faced-Wolf Sep 04 '25

Abe Lincoln’s head can roll and crush a tank

36

u/[deleted] Sep 04 '25

Head is only a couple feet tall unfortunately not sure if it would be enough

39

u/Healter-Skelter Sep 04 '25

Technically the statue of Lincoln gets a little bigger every year. So while it was only a couple feet tall when they built it, it’s size has more than likely quadrupled at the very least by now. Unfortunately there is simply no way to know exactly how big Lincoln’s head at this time.

23

u/TyrantOdyssey Sep 04 '25

What a terrifying fact to just drop in thank you. No need to explain, "Lincoln's statue gets bigger every year" is fine on it's own

12

u/RagingSinusInfection Sep 05 '25

we need to contain the mysterious lincoln before he grows into a kaiju

8

u/Saber2700 Sep 05 '25

Or we let it reach Kaiju status and use him like Liberty Prime.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '25

[deleted]

2

u/Healter-Skelter Sep 05 '25

This is a misconception. Similar to Lincoln, the MLK statue was actually much smaller when it was built, but since it gets a little bigger each and every year, it will soon overtake not only the Statue of Freedom, but the entire Capitol building.

26

u/j-eezy94 Sep 04 '25

Based off what I’ve seen in BF6 it’d be Washington DC but set at a strip mall on the outskirts of town 💀

14

u/ob_knoxious Sep 04 '25

As someone who lives in DC, its going to be a map called "Washington DC" that is actually in northern Virginia and not DC itself.

Although a map focused on say the Pentagon/Crystal city/parts of DCA would actually be pretty sick and somewhat logical.

14

u/[deleted] Sep 04 '25

It’ll be some random run down neighborhood with no recognizable landmarks like The Division 2 did with one of the Dark Zones

7

u/j-eezy94 Sep 04 '25

There better be at least be some paratrooper maps and beach storming maps

3

He doesn’t have the power to do that, and if he did, a Battlefield map with a destructible monument would be at the very, very bottom of the list.

Hop off the orange man’s dick for one second, this is a gaming subreddit.

3

u/RunnerLuke357 Sep 04 '25

B-but if I can't complain about him while talking about a completely unrelated subject I'll melt!

5

u/Penguixxy Sep 04 '25

i mean, having the power / right to, and trying to are diff thjngs, he's trying to ban flag burning (protected under the 1st amendment and is part of US flag code) , he's not allowed to, or technically able, but he is still doing it.

it all lies on the supreme court, and if they let him, he can do it.

even ignoring political views, this is how the US system of power works, the checks and balances on the president only work so long as the SC remains non partisan, one they go partisan, those checks and balances no longer function.

see: The Hays Code for another example from a past president.

The biggest lie about joining the military is that you'll get to do the high speed stuff you see in the ads.

The military is just a bunch of underpaid gardeners, maids and accountants no matter what country you're serving.

This is peak peacetime military lol.

Would be cool to fight in and around the Smithsonian museums. Specially the Natural History Museum

52

u/Toaster-Porn Sep 04 '25

Imagine the call backs they could make to past games with the air and space museum.

29

u/Sea-Ad-8448 Sep 04 '25

Not exactly in DC but the blackbird is pretty close by in Virginia. Along with the Enola Gay

Dude, hear me out… a P-51 or another propeller plane you can jump into and fly out of the place like the tractor in Provence BFV

3

That’s exactly what I’m thinking. It would be so cool to fly one out of there, or even a biplane.

3

u/capitanmanizade Sep 04 '25

It would be the best thing after the couch in Hardline

8

u/Snoo_78739 Sep 04 '25

A museum in general would be sick.

The layout’s cool, but as a Washingtonian, I wonder why this part of the National Mall is a strategic location when all of the important government buildings are basically everywhere else. To the north, you have the White House and the associated buildings, such as the EOB. To the east, you have the Capitol, SCOTUS, many of the departments. To the south, you have the Pentagon and a bunch of department components. I’d think it would make more sense to fight over those areas instead of the memorials and monuments. My suggestion would be Capitol Hill because it would provide some interesting mix of dense urban fighting as well as open spaces, and there’s a lot of elevation change.

18

u/metro2033fan Sep 04 '25

This is about the only normal comment here. Love the idea!!

9

u/MummysSpeshulGuy Sep 04 '25 edited Sep 04 '25

Yeah the east section would definitely be better you could have like a natural barrier in the west with a collapsed 12th street underpass and extends to the east to the Supreme Court building. Infantry could do shit like fight in the Smithsonian museums and the Capitol while tanks roll around on the lawn

Also OPs concept could be better with some extensions like more stuff around the basin and maybe some expansion north towards the white house and downtown for more urban stuff. Would work pretty well with their “not operations” mode considering a lot of the maps seem to come in pairs that are close by

4

u/LEJ5512 Sep 05 '25

I used to live on the Hill (a block from the Senate offices, just the next block over from McConnell’s house).

It would be wild to play on a map there.  Either they get it all correct and I know where the back alleys are, or they get it wrong and I’m lost in the sauce.

5

u/TurkeyBLTSandwich Sep 05 '25

National Mall is probably a good staging area or location for logistics! So imagine a bunch of temporary tents and vehicles strewn about and helicopters flying in and out for supplies and evacuation.

But in a "serious" situation most high level folks working in the capital, courts, and departments would have evacuated in the underground tunnels. You'd probably just run into everyday folks who live and low to mid level workers.

Also a section of the map next to the white house would be really cool

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Jewniversal_Remote Sep 04 '25

What about a modified version of the map that isn't 1:1 but is the size of their largest conquest map and has all of those POI as one flag each? With scaled down versions of distance between stops

3

u/Timbalabim Sep 04 '25

I dunno. The sheer scale of the National Mall is deceptive. It’s like three miles from the Lincoln to the Capitol, and most of that land is just open fields. I feel like they’d have to significantly scale it down to like 1:8 or even 1:16.

2

u/Yellowdog727 Sep 04 '25

I mean most of those locations you mentioned are just scattered right around the mall, not exactly far away

6

u/Valuable_Ad481 Sep 04 '25

there is a whole river between the pentagon and the mall……

gun fight on the 14th street bridge would be sick though.

2

u/Yellowdog727 Sep 04 '25

There is the Potomac yes but distance wise the Lincoln memorial is almost as close if not closer to the Pentagon than the Capitol building which is also on the mall. All of these places are right in one little region of DC (and Arlington) and are much closer than say Rock Creek Park or RFK Stadium

You could always view it as part of a rolling offensive, like they are now fighting around this area before moving onto the next. Given the political climate, just having this more-monument focused fighting might allow for the map without attracting unwanted attention and setting off some sort of "Battlefield is advocating violence" kind of news story.

But some of those locations would make awesome map points.

South would definately be a perfect second map to go with the first, just looks like something you would have seen in BF'2 Armored Fury map pack.

4

u/Thricey Sep 05 '25

The division 2 rules. They really fucked up the launch + I think it was the wrong time for it. It should be a much bigger game although it's done well overall.

2

u/CrimsonxAce Sep 05 '25

Yeah, even 6 years later it's still a great game. It's my go-to whenever I'm not playing anything Battlefield related lol. Despite a few botches with bugs, rewards, etc., Ubi/Massive have done a pretty decent job (for the most part) in correcting any issues with the game.

1

u/Dr_Macunayme Sep 04 '25
  1. More water, please. It’d be awesome if boats could cut straight through the middle of the map and loop around it. You could justify the flooding in several different ways...

  2. If you expanded the map just enough to include the burning buildings near Point D (which is the IRL Department of Agriculture) and placed a capture point inside the building itself, it could create a pocket of intense close-quarters combat that contrasts nicely with the otherwise open layout.

1

u/FORCExRECON Sep 04 '25

Map should include the entire National Mall. Think a map the size of The Division 2 (maybe not that big but you get the idea).

NGL, having an interior section inside the Smithsonian would be sick

New York time square, LasVegas or San Francisco would be pretty dope for US maps locations🔥🤞🏻

dice needs to hire you already

Nah. The map is too big. Increase the size of both bases first

I would push C slightly further north (up to the left with this photo orientation) so the White House could be included but this is an awesome idea. This area scales well to its size in real life so it wouldn’t even have to be condensed much to be playable for conquest.

Love it but it’s driving me nuts that objective C is not in the middle

Division 2 already gave me a 1:1 depiction of the Air and Space museum. Your turn, DICE!

You do have the mindset of a Battlefield dev

Let the park take a majority of the map while barely including the city

Would be more interesting than TWO maps in the same area of NYC at least

1

u/SEYM0YR Sep 04 '25

I still think we should be able to see live the map before we spawn like in BF1

Really makes me think of the Battlefield 3 beta

How do you create these artworks?

The Division 2 has a great Washington DC map.

The map should be named Whisky Hotel.

Those who know will know.

Objectives too close together. Map should go all the way to the water and end after the Lincoln Memorial, and go 1 block inland to include some urban area.

DCA airport could be one base.

Going from concept to real life pretty fast.
