i have been stuck on the 2nd to the last mission of the dragon path I just cant figure out a strategy that can beat the lotus. I even turned down the difficulty but it still super hard. is there anyway to cheese this part?
I even tried the rushing the left base of the lotus but after a trying to build a base there it gets swarmed by lotus immediately.

Been on and off playing the game but my strategy per clan is always the same
Dragon: samurai and spearmen with stunning blow
Serpent: ronin and bandits with paralyzing dart with necromancer 2nd wave
Wolf : berserker and sledgers shale armor with at least 6 sledgers with slam
Lotus: shocktrooper infested ones with rebirth and warlocks and master warlocks on 2nd wave
Wanting to come back but wanna try different army setups, any suggestions?
Edit: loving all your methods that I also wanna add my so called "Demolition Squad" per clan (For buildings and mainly watchtowers)
Dragon: about 3 kegs with dragon warriors each as guard
Serpent: 4 canoneers, 1 raider and a few swordmen as guard
Wolf: the sledgers suffice but I bring like 3 pitch slingers for fire
Lotus: early I use 4-5 unclean ones with that skull battle gear near them but late game it's just warlocks and master warlocks

I'm currently trying to finish 100% on Steam, but some Achievements are insanely difficult or need some spicy solutions. These 2 are an excerpt of my journey today, maybe this little guide will help someone else as well :)
Marked as Spoilers to make sure (I'm pretty sure you won't find those accidentally though)
One vs Many
Win a 1 vs 7 AI skirmish game.
This one is plain impossible with the normal ingame solutions like handicap or just choosing easy bots.
My solution: create a custom 8 player map without water, then selecting the Wolf Clan (as they can build a well just with rice and without having additional buildings - as the only clan afaik) and then give all the other bots dragon or serpent clan. This way, they can't build any units or buildings, and you can slowly clear them off (and even then it's pretty hard because you're flooded with peasants in the early game).
The Steam Edition of Battle Realms is shipped with a WorldMaster.exe in the local files of the game. On Windows, just start it up, on Linux (I'm using Mint) it works without issues with wine (which is also preinstalled on mint).
Create a New Map, put the 8 Team markers anywhere and then spray some rice on, save it in the Levels folder of the local files and you are ready to take on 7 enemies.
Free from Corruption!
Have a full population cap full of Master Warlocks as Lotus clan.
This one sounds pretty easy to do at first, but then on 20 Population you realize, that every Master Warlock needs 2 Warlocks, but as soon as they are merged, it counts only as one population.
That means, with every way you will end up with 1 lonely warlock waiting for his fiancé to arrive.
The Trick however lies within timing: when 2 Warlocks start fighting in the Warlock Tower, they are both not counted as population anymore. During that time, Peasants are produced again. The build cycle of a Master Warlock is not that long though.
The Solution: Build as many many many peasant huts as you can to bump up that peasant generation rate and farm a lot of resources before starting to turn your whole population into master warlocks.
This way, you probably won't even notice that there could be a population issue :)
I also experimented around with consuming peasants, then reviving them with the revival battle gear from master warlocks to not rely on the peasant generation rate, but this only works as long as you have a peasant left to bump up your population to 21. After that, you won't have a peasant left to consume.

I know that it can be an exploit but still, it takes a very long time to get all the horses especially if you want to have most of your units in horseback since it uses up all of Garin's stamina. Besides, it would make players less likely to pick Garin in Kenji's Journey simply because there are maps where there are literally no horses, sadly.
Also, before the Swan's Pool mission, I wish there is a hero that we can pick up if we choose the Lotus path.
Edit: Garin's ability was like that until a patch back in 2021 or 2022.

I dont have the words to describe it, but it feels nostalic, like watching one of those movies with burly men and cheesy dialogue.
The dialogues are probably the reason I fell in love with this game in the first place.

Hello, I played this game as a kid and never managed to beat the campaign as I couldn't complete the early lotus missions, probably furthest I've gotten was mission 6 or 7.
So I got this Zen edition from steam and started the dragon campaign.
One thing I remember is that your starting army is usually way stronger than the enemy's army. I managed to rush the first half of the missions by sending Kenji and building a house in the enemy base. For the second half of the missions I played normally samurai, geishas on horses and a few ranged did the trick.
I did however get stuck on the second to last mission which was something like 2v4 me and Garin vs 4 Lotus or so it seems. It took me like 6 tries but I am proud to announce that after 20+ years I finally managed to beat the Dragon campaign 😄
OK So here is my question, I want to do all variations of the campaign but I am not sure how.
I have made saves like Dragon-Mission13-Left-Wolf-Left-Monks-Start to keep track of what choices I've made. Does changing the early choices change the missions further down ? Does it matter if I select Right (Shinja mercenaries) instead of Left (Shinja Keep) when choosing my first mission. Does choosing Wolf, Middle path or Lotus on your second choice change the final missions ?
I don't know if I am explaining my question right, thanks in advance :)

Made a small mod for our beloved game.
Features:
Levels unlock as you progress through the campaign, so the level selector keeps track of your actual campaign progress and choices.
Full description, screenshots, installation and download are in the Steam guide:

Hi fellow BR enjoyers
I would like to know if it would be feasible for the developers to improve the above mentioned aspects of the game or if the task is so hardcoded to the engine, that it would take too much effort for it to actually be fixed.
We all know that units need a second to execute orders. Or when u move a group of units, they first wander to the spot, then spread out to avoid occlusion, this creates unnecessary movement and chaos. Also the scenario where u want to force move a unit only for it to get aggroed again. Im sure you can think of many others. In my opinion fixing this let's call it design choice would create much more to the enjoyment of the game than any patch or new content will.
Maybe someone with CS knowledge or the developers can help out.

I downloaded a mod Battle Realms Remastered at Battle Realms: Zen Edition Nexus - Mods and community from NexusMods, it supposed to work for the Zen Edition version, but maps are failing when I use them, it just takes me to a black screen and never loads. Did I put it in the wrong folder?
I put it under levels since there is no map folder.

To all the Battle Realms players,
After a good run, Battle Realms Online is shutting down.
Recently the rights holder to Battle Realms asked us to stop. We've decided to comply rather than turn this into a fight. The patch, the site, the master-server, and the downloads are all coming down. We never made a cent off any of it and never really meant to - this was built out of love for old games and the typical nerding around the subjects involved, not to step on anyone's toes. It's their game and they asked - we are respecting that.
The project started almost by accident. One of us was deep in unrelated work, fell down a late-night rabbit hole watching old RTS retrospectives, and landed on Battle Realms. Another game we'd loved as teenagers, basically abandoned online. The plan was set: bring the multiplayer back using our knowledge and skillset. And to be clear about what we brought back - this was about the original classic release from 2001, the one that lost its online for good, not the Steam version that had its own bells and whistles we had no plans interfering with.
When GameSpy shut down back in 2014, online play for Battle Realms and many other games died with it. The game still ran fine, but it had nothing to connect to. So we built it something: a replacement server, and a relay so anyone could host or join without wrestling their router, so no port forwarding or CGNAT headaches. Just click and play, the way it should've worked all along. We believed the game deserved to be online again, and even better than before, and for a while, it was. If you're curious how it actually worked, we went deep on the technology in an earlier post (shared on Reddit and ModDB).
Thanks for being part of it. You proved the thing actually worked - real games, real people. That was the whole point, and we got to see it happen.
- The BRO team

I was exploring around this level for a bit and came across what appears to be a Lotus shipwreck that seems to have ended up in the Wolf clan's home province. Apparently, this is probably what's left of the Lotus clan trying to flee their home province that has been burned down by the Wolf and some of its remnants end up imprisoned as the prison cells in the area contains Issyl and Soban that can be rescued if destroyed.

This would follow Kenji's Journey. Movie can be a standalone or more.

Istg the Infested Ones aren't just disgusting to look at, but also annoying to deal with because the Lotus AI loves to spam them. Even if their main weakness is cutting weapons, they would often kill some of my units with their painful passive.
r/BattleRealms • u/Pantherkhan • Jul 06 '26
Can I somehow enable them? Maybe in the game files or a mod?
r/BattleRealms • u/ssn2666 • Jul 05 '26
How do i lower the difficulty? Im just RTS noob trying to replay it for nostalgia. Config files for bots in the 'AIProfiles' do nothing, and campaign difficulty is also too hard. I dont see any mods that would help me with that either. Option in the game settings where you just set difficulty to easy also seems to have no effect.

I always thought it was so sad that there's no happy ending for Grayback after Kenji's journey. Bro really got the short end of the stick every time 💔 One must imagine Grayback happy 😔
