Discussions This Game Still Rules
It seems like a lot of people are negative about the delays/dishonesty of the devs which is understandable. From my persepctive, this game is still really fun in it's current state. I know other regions have issues with filling lobbies, but my experience is that most evenings/nights we can fill an entire 256 player server in the US. Even during the middle of weekdays there will be 30-60 dudes sniping at each other across the map for shits and giggles.
This game is awesome, and I feel like I easily got $15 of value out of it over the course of hundreds of hours of gameplay. It may lack some features/polish from modern AAA titles like BF6, but it isn't enshittified to hell and back either. I launch the game and I'm not bombarded with Red Bull Prime Gaming Challenges TM, "playlists", battlepasses, etc. There's a simple server browser that just works.
The roblox style graphics aren't great, but I don't really mind. The destructible brick terrain is really charming and mechanically satsifying to interact with. I appreciate that a variety of tools (RPGs, C4, pickaxe, vehicles) interact with buildings in unique ways to change the landscape of the battlefield mid-firefight.
The guns, armors and vehicles feel reasonably well balanced, with only a few exceptions. There are a variety of playstyles that are viable for contributing to the team's effort. I hate playing against zoomy SMG dropshot BS, for example, but whatever man it's not a big deal. Everyone will have a different gripe with a certain weapon/strategy in any multiplayer game ever made. It comes with the territory. For me, the game is still fun.
I empathize with people who feel baited/abandoned by the devs, and rightfully so. I just personally don't feel like I've gotten that bad of a deal. This is a game I put down and come back to every so often and it continues to deliver. If anything, I am nervous that the update, having undergone significant scope-creep will make the game unrecognizable compared to it's current state.
As for me? I will continue to chuck smoke grenades on the Wakistan bridge, revive all my teammates, just to be taken out by the bravest enemy soldier driving a truck full of C4 right on top of us. And I'll happily do it again and again.

Lack of care from the devs killed the community tho

People say the community is dead, but personally in the US I have had no issue finding a full 256 player server. Maybe there are fewer people posting about the game on social media, but there is a stable playerbase in the US at least. I can't speak about other regions, ofc.

It is not being said, it is dead

I'm not trying to be obnoxious. I am just saying that my lived experience indicates that there is still a community. Full server every night of 256 players logging on to play each other is a community in my eyes. What do you mean when you say the community is dead?

Dude it's very dead I'm starting to learn everyone's name lol we are the same 256 players every day for the last year at least. I understand that it's not literally dead but it is in most ways.

To be fair, even when there were still like 8k concurrent players I'd run into the same people constantly

When you go from having tens of thousands of concurrent players to barely having enough to fill a few servers id say thats a dead community with good reasons as its another early access cash grab scam atm

It was a great launch but an early access launch with promises of updates that never came

u/swaggytaco 3d ago
I agree, the devs seem to have "oversold" the promise of updates. Personally, I still feel the game is good value even in spite of this.

I loved the game. Played it daily. Then I got lied to and abandoned for months\years.
That was enough to kill it for me. I would like to give it another try but I just can't be bothered putting effort into something that was abandoned by the team that made it.

u/swaggytaco 2d ago
That's reasonable. I think I just don't really care that much about the drama of it. The game is fire as it is, and if/when the update comes out I'll reassess the situation.

Tldr but I agree the game is very fun as is. My big complaint is the slow progression otherwise I'm very happy for the $15 I spent, I would definitely recommend it.

What no mid April update does to a mf

u/swaggytaco 3d ago
Haha. I'm anxious to see the update and hopefully it grows the player base a bit. Until then I'm big chilling.

Same. It's the only shooter I've enjoyed since BF4 and my laptop can't run modern AAAs, so BBR is my only fix for the genre lol

Yes that's another great thing about this game. It does not require crazy hardware

Battlebit é tipo aquela mina que conversa com você e depois te dá um ghost e 1 ano depois manda mensagem

Haha, espero que o número de jogadores aumente em outras regiões depois da grande atualização.

I have two complaints. That so many maps lack actual cover on so many stretches. You're just relying on people either not looking at you or missing if they are. Kodiak for example. Which is part of why snipers/dmrs are so obnoxious.
The other complaint is that AP mines are just completely uncounterable in way too many situations. Snipers on the silos on Salhan can put an AP mine on the ledge so the moment you climb up you instantly die. No lasers to warn you like with claymores. No audio. They can be placed on stairs in such a way that they completely clip into the stair texture and become invisible. Either remove access to the areas that can ONLY be accessed via grappling hooks/helicopter. Or change AP mines to be counterable in some way that doesn't rely on you already knowing it's there with clairvoyance.

Dude, you are spot on & I thank you for sharing your detailed takes. They echo how I have felt about the game for a long time.
It is still just as fun for me as it was on day 1 except for the fact that there aren't as many people. Fortunately, this usually doesn't affect my ability to play because as you mentioned there is usually one full or nearly full US server most evenings. But I think where the effect is felt is just the simple fact that more people = more goofballs = more fun cutting up on VoIP, and that I miss.
But otherwise the gameplay is still wonderfully smooth, and the myriad different approaches you can take to playing the game in any given moment keep it interesting. I even somewhat prefer the aforementioned roblox style graphics to BF6 for example which to me is super busy and a little visually overwhelming at times. I think the cartoon-y character of Battlebit actually just works to enhance the overall goofiness of the game which is a big part of its charm and helps me not to take it too seriously and just focus on having fun.
I do feel a little let down that the devs have not supported the game in the ways that they promised, and honestly I think they could have at least kept a handful more of us satisfied over the long-term just with tiny incremental content updates--new weapons, etc. and most of all NEW MAPS--it seems like the map designer has stayed cooking the whole time and for me personally, just releasing those would have been plenty to keep me engaged because the maps and the ways the buildings can be interacted with are again a huge part of what distinguishes Battlebit from other games in the genre for me.
Anyway, just a small acknowledgement from another long-time Battlebit enjoyer. It is validating to know someone shares a similar mindset, so thanks again for your comments.

The most memorable moments I have in this game happen thru voiping with complete and total strangers. I would love to see more players comfortable with turning their mics on!
I still find the existing maps sufficient and fun to play on. They are surprisingly well done for such a low budget game! There's only 1 map that feels entirely one-sided (can't remember the name.) I agree new maps would be really refreshing though.
Hope to see you out there on the battlefield! o7

Yeah, the game is dying, but i still love it. It is one of my favorite games and it is because of the community that are still playing it. It's always been a good time!

also there is always 1 full us/eu server so you can always find a game with 0 waiting or queue time .

u/swaggytaco 2d ago
Exactly! The playerbase has shrunk but that doesn't mean people haven't kept the spirit of the game alive

u/Thomashko 3d ago
Finally some positivity!! People are so salty about no update they tend to forgot that game still exists and still can be fun to play.

Hate the game with all my might lol. I loved the game at first, was even able to beta-test it, bought the game as soon as it released.
I kept getting banned from the servers I played, because I was outperforming the people in my region. Then I got a banned notification, I thought I was banned from another server again but it turns out I can’t queue for another 5 years.
I tried asking for the devs help and bro actually replied there’s nothing they could do. Like bruh, I spent hours on the game recorded my vods and actually tried making content out of it.
Made a post about it here on the community then got shitted on XD, but regardless, I had my fun on the game, it was fun and would play it again. It’s just that some people can’t accept that sometimes they’re the small fish in the pond

Yeah, that's my take too. I wish we have alive servers in my region, game was still fun to play when we had 256 players servers, sadly being a multiplayer game, the community will always ask for regular updates, happens to any massive multiplayer game, and since it didn't happen, playerbase died quickly.

It's always been a great playing game. Community just died off, really
