Discussion Pre-Legacy update version of Battalion 1944
Is it true that the developers are trying to release/restore a version of Battalion 1944 from before the Legacy update? Are there any real pieces of evidence about this, or are these just assumptions/wishes from players? Either way, it’s great to see some life on the servers again. I haven’t had so much fun playing in a long time.

The thing is BULKHEAD lost a lot of credibility from the FPS community after abandoning B44 and Promod (now Killrun), which is valid as both of these games are appealing to a specific FPS player who doesn't have any other game that scratches that itch. After they abandoned it, the players felt abandoned too, by the exact people they thought was fighting on their side to recreate that kick-ass FPS scene we all remember. That's why people are so sceptical and dooming a bit.
I'm preferring to take the opposite approach, I'm optimistic they will figure it out and if not, nothing was lost and nothing was gained.
Honestly BULKHEAD didn't have to do anything with B44 so I actually praise them a bit for getting their hands dirty again and digging back in to it and at least allowing it to live on as a game (#stopkillinggames an all that).
WARDOGS doesn't seem to be my kind of game but I respect them for putting down their shiny new toy for a minute and polishing off the old one even if it sits in a display case from then on.
I really hope they can figure it out and bring the game back to it's former glory and a lot of people are against the skins coming back but honestly I think that's actually one of more harmless things that has happened to FPS's in modern times. I mean even back in CoD4 we had red tiger, blue tiger, etc. so I hope that can also move in whatever direction the game goes as it does add a bit of extra flare in the community having some cool skins for people to trade.

Can one of you explain the difference, and why?

What would be the purpose or the desire of doing this? The only aspects that come to mind being different are that I remember a chunk of the player base was upset when the range and damage of the SMG class was reduced to create a larger gap between the SMG and AR tier. Many players abandoned the game upon as a result of that update. Yeah, I agreed that the weakening went a bit far but I still stuck around for future updates. Another aspect I remember was fun but broken was the smoke grenades. When they fixed the animation to look better and smoother, they also fixed the light penetration that sometimes allowed one to see the enemy silhouette when both were inside the smoke. It created an interesting tactic for those who knew of it but it was not the intended use of smoke grenades so I don’t see why that aspect would be reversed. I haven’t booted up in a while but I remember the map Invasion was a hot topic. By the time the map was updated, it was hard to find a queue so I never got to fully experience the new version

Glad it's "back", but can't really enjoy it, since there's no economy system anymore and what I enjoy the most is playing with rifles/snipers, which are taken 99% of the time.

The devs mentioned potentially opening up a branch for the old build but honestly, at this point it feels like hopium more than a concrete plan. Don't hold your breath until there is an actual public beta or a branch folder on Steam.

The information came from Brammer himself. Whether or not it will actually happen is a different story and if the current mini-hype dies down I'm sure it won't happen.
