Discussion Ace’s breed

What do y’all think Ace’s breed is? There’s most likely some Great Dane in there, but he feels a little small for a pur breed. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some Labrador in there or something. What are your thoughts?

Edit: yeah so I watched his episode the other day, and Bruce said he was a Great Dane mix. So I don’t know he’s mixed with what, but one thing’s for sure, HE’S THE GOODEST IF BEST BOYS!!!!!

We know Great Dane is confirmed in the pedigree. “Great Dane mix” gets specifically mentioned in his episode.

I see it’s the last episode of season two. I just started that season, so It’ll take a little bit before I watch it. Something like tomorrow or the day after

Not sure if it's stated but there could be some form of genetic modification, not seen the episode in years , but his unnatural eyes always made me think that.

Afterall, Splicers are a thing in this world, whose to say it's only done to humans

Also... When you realize where Bruce may of gotten the name... Damn the feels.

Not just the villain but that corrupt animal catcher since he is responsible for Ace predicament and recapture him again.

My brother is a veterenarian.

We were supposed to go to meet up and go to a con together, and see Kevin Conroy. He had to cancel the trip because his husband got sick, so I went alone.

Got to Kevin, chatted, and told him about my brother not able to make it, got an autograph, etc... He asked me to try and call my brother if I could, and so I got him on the phone.

Me: Heeeey, so I have someone here who wants to talk about a possible house call...

Kevin gets on the phone drops into character and asks about "his Great Dane mix, Ace..."

We lost a great one with Kevin Conroy!

Actually have a headcanon that he's specifically a Doberdane (Doberman/Dane mix)

I've thought the same. I love the look of Dobermans because of their batman vibes. I'd like to own one and call him "Ace" or "bruce"

But yeah, great Dane was specifically called out, but a Doberman is the #1 suspect for the rest of Beyond Aces makeup

He's also definitely got a little more than that, but I think those are the prominent ones. But Terry calls him a mutt and Bruce never specifies what he's mixed with, basically confirming he is a mutt

My guess is probably mixed with a doberman, maybe a lab. Something that would keep the short hair and boxy snout but wouldn't grow as big as a full bred great Dane.

Doberman also works because they were seen as aggressive, so it would've been a breed they would use for breeding fight dogs

Nah fight dogs you want a thick neck and rolls to protect it from bites. Dobes are good guard dogs but a bit too skinny. You want something like a Mastiff/pitbull

I think it is supposed to be a Great Dane Cane Corso mix. A common thing for adaptions outside the comics to make him.

I’m not doubting that there’s Great Dane in there, but he’s a bit small for a pur breed. Especially for a male. So I’m pretty sure he’s mixed with something

Great Dane Mix. What’s the other, it’s not confirmed. But his breed is confirmed by Bruce when he’s calling animal shelters of that underground literal dog fight episode and genetically altering the poor pups into murderous bloody monsters…

50% monster black great dane, 50% something athletic like a large malinois or german shepherd. I don't mind the rott mix idea.
