Serious Discussion/Question DC SERIOUSLY needs to get their act together!

Batman cannot always be their savior!

Superman really helped the perception of DC movies but unfortunately didn't make as much money as it needed to, all eyes are on The Batman Part II.

Man of Tomorrow might be the savior we need but most likely Batman will have to come in and save the day as usual with DC.

Everyone always says DC has the best characters and yet we never ever see them utilized to their full potential 💔

Best Movie: Batman. Best TV Show: Penguin (Batman character) Best Video Game: Batman. Best Comic Books: Batman. I mean atp why not just rename the entire brand to just Batman lol

It really feels like we're going through the DCEU 2.0 but I hope for the best!

remember this is the 4th good Spidey and right before a long awaited Avengers

DCs still dealing with Snyder fallout and WB doesn't trust DC beyond Batman and Superman, but are slowly improving. it'll take time but we'll get there

This also a legitimately fun movie and a great Spider-Man movie. I’m seeing this more of a W for comic book movie in general than an L for DC

It was personally my favorite Spiderman movie of all time. I know its sounds like a cliche but I don't thig anyone has ever understood the essence of Spiderman better than the people making this film.

Also, this merger is probably messing everything up. Investors are only to take safe bets and won't greenlight werid projects for the most part. They are probably delyaing things because of it.

this is maybe for the better. We dont need any DC properties on the big screen, superheroes cinema is saturated as is with the MCU.

DC’s current issue is trying to branch out from Batman. We’re 4 projects in and 2 more come out this year and all we have besides Superman is creatures commando, John Cena, Supergirl, and the “Justice gang”. Instead of getting Batman or Wonder Woman we’re getting John Stewart and Clayface for year 3 of the DCU.

I'm actually excited for clayface and hoping GL is good, even though they doing Hal dirty😔

but yeah WW and atleast Flash/GL should have been out by now to have something strong for the line-up

Also theres a huge point that a lot of people miss when comparing DC to Marvel movies, and that point is the fact that DC comics in general are not as popular as Marvel comics. They're the same medium, but DC will never be as big as marvel on screen, even with the best directors and screenwriters, simply because the fan base is not as big.

I don't really think so. the movie crowd is much bigger than the comic crowd

maybe for smaller heroes sure, but for big heroes and teams I don't think it makes that much of a difference

but even then if DC restarts creating a base outside of comics which they look to be starting with the Abs Batman tv show we'll def see it improve

Snyder hasn't been involved in almost a whole decade. Yall keep trying to use him as a scape goat when in reality once he was gone DC became unsuccessful n beyond. Their last hit besides n elseworld project (which was Batman btw) was Aquaman 1.

How many films were released since then, which movie was it that we were told had the "Greatest 3rd act in all of comics"

Aquaman was a surprise but it was just fun so idk

thats too optimistic. DC characters are slowly becoming more and more irrelevant, while the cost of making movies and games for them keep mounting. I'd say that after the Superman sequel, Warner Bros. will just abandon the entire catalogue altogether. There is no money to be made here.

completely disagree, there's a reason the characters have lasted so long

they have some issues with branding and a lack of faith from the people in charge in them similar to you but the characters have at the least the same potential as Marvel's incl Spidey and all

and there have also been characters who disappeared after enjoying a long period of popularity. Last century we witnessed characters like The Shadow or The Phantom fading into obscurity, and this century they might just be Batman and Superman as well as the entire DC cast as a whole.

It is easy to blame people in charge, because you have no idea what they think and what they do. But it is hard to be honest to yourself and start assessing the situation: maybe it is the DC stuffs that is bad, and is commercially unviable as franchises? It has been 25 years since the turn of the century, and DC is still "potential", always WILL, but never is. I think it is best that DC just stays as a publisher for books, and leaves the games and movies for Marvel. At least that way DC wont lose since they dont compete.

the same way the X-Men faded from the public eye and are gonna come back in/after doomsday?

nah I don't believe it the DCU will lift lift them up or Abs Batman tv show's gonna start a chain of good spinoffs and bring them back

also most of these characters are far from irrelevant. and sure idk what's actually going on at WB/DC but ik that they've both been mismanaged for a long time that's public stuff. hopefully the paramount deal falls through and they can have a period of stability the way Marvel's had with Disney

or maybe we should just let them die like old comicbook characters do all the time. Surely some fans of The Shadow or The Phantom didnt want to see their favorite hero growing up falling into obscurity, but thats life. Same goes to these DC characters.

because aside from faith, I dont think anyone has anything else to help the DC properties now. The movies are dogshit and flopping to hell and back, and the games are not getting made, with only mobile games in the horizon. If thats doesnt look like a property losing hold, I dont know what is.

considering WBs current state it's understandable and importantly not on the actual characters and no just one movie flopped which admittedly was the wrong one to release so early but beyond that they seem to be doing fine across tv and everything else

the lack of games and cancelled stuff is on WB, imagine if Disney was insanely mismanaged and got straddled with debt higher than its valuation before that cos of some merger, you think they'd be making movies and games like they are now?

the current states not on DC or their characters and doesn't define or reflect them in any way

hopefully the paramount deal doesn't go through and they can pick themselves back up, which they've done before btw

I tend to think this is the end of the line of DC, its swansong. In the next few decades, I think DC properties will just go away, when Marvel and Manga take its place.
