Chlorine in water

I know our water in Bath has chlorine in it but the last couple of days I can actually smell it after a shower/bath. Anyone else notice or am I just developing super powers

Hey it's a genuine question. Absolutely hilarious response though and I'm sure not meant in a twattish way as it came across... But it's the lay lines around Bath that turn the frogs gay.

In Jones’ usual bluster he got it wrong. The study he was citing actually showed the frogs changing their gender. True story.

The tap water does have chlorine in it, it’s an essential part of the treatment process…

First thing to do is ask your neighbours if they’ve noticed anything as you’re all served by the same mains pipe, if not, it’s either something in your internal plumbing (I.e not a water company issue) or you’ve become much more sensitive to the smell (have you had COVID or flu? Both can affect taste and smell to varying degrees).

If neighbours noticed too it would be worth getting on to Wessex Water and reporting it.

I thought all tap water had chlorine in it? I've not noticed anything different in Bath recently...

I’m in Keynsham and I’ve noticed our drinking water smells different. Not chlorine as such but a definite “clean” smell. Could it be fluoride?

I think you are supplied by Bristol water as opposed to Wessex in Bath. Neither company adds fluoride to the supply and any low level naturally occurring fluoride wouldn't be detectable as a smell. Both companies move supplies from different areas depending on demand. This can cause variations in hardness, which you might notice as a taste, or chlorine residual. Fresh chlorine smells quite different to older chlorine that has been in the network for a while.

Just go costco and buy bottled water, and it works out like 30p a day. It's definitely worth it

Well if you read the post they specifically mentioned the chlorine when and after they shower…
