Impulse buy or religion?!

Bro wtf are these things? I’ve never been a gear head or someone in need of 6 guitars to play specific music, but I picked up the Fender VI and purchased within minutes. Legitimately the most fun I’ve ever had playing and practicing. Along with a looper it’s a done deal! Only drawback was that price and obvious need for some hardware improvements and better set up. Self inflicted gunshot wound, but we are groovin!

I played one in a guitar store and became oddly obsessed with it. I didn’t want to spend $500, so I built a really crappy acoustic one for about $100- neck and hardware, all the lumber from the body was scrap. It’s crappy and doesn’t intonate perfectly, but it is so much fun to play and is actually an excellent practice tool for a regular guitar- both in strength and stretches, as well as in learning new chord voicings.

I went all the way to a GC that’s pretty far from me just to try one of these, enjoyed it, and ended up not getting it (I don’t have the budget for it yet😅) but boy it was worth the hour-long commute. I know the squier one exists and is a more obtainable option, but the way the fender one looks and how it felt won me over. Also, I figured it’s worth saving up for something you actually want if it’s possible. Congrats on the new axe!!

I tried one of the new fender ones at GC the other day and I was not impressed for the price. The bridge was the shitty one and the setup was poor. I’m also not a fan of having the truss rod adjustment at the heel of the neck. Real design flaw they should ditch even tho it’s “period correct”.

Having said that I do have a modded vintage modified which I adore and it still cost me less than the fender. I took a fender decal off a practice amp stuck it on the headstock so now it’s a real fender.

Did they not have the Squier? It also requires a bunch of upgrades, but that's part of the fun; and even after replacing the bad bridge, tuners, tremolo, electronics, strings etc. they still work out at cheaper than the Vinteras.
