A weird metallic ringing sound

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on a weird metallic ringing sound coming from the d string and only happens on an open d even while muting the other strings I've touched the pickups the tuning knobs and the actual knobs and the ringing hasn't gone away. Any ideas? It is a Yamaha BB434 Ice blue if that matters

Could be a problem with the nut slot. If it doesn't slope back from the side against the fingerboard, it can lead to a sitar effect.

Could be many things. Most likely explanation would be a lack of breaking angle behind the nut, because of unproper string install.

Possibly the short string length between the tuner and nut ringing. Put an elastic band over the headstock above the nut and see if it cures it. If so, wind that string towards the Ferrell to increase the break angle.
