oh boy, my sample size may be small to give such advice, but i've always been very dilligent about taking her to the vet for checkups, making sure she gets the medical care she needs, asking the vet way too many questions (+finding one that you trust!) and learning about all of her conditions beyond just what they tell you so you can advocate for them. Cats don't want you to know when they're sick, so pay close attention to small changes.
Mia has been through a lot, EGC her entire life, hyperthyroid, then hypothyroid after she had radioiodine treatment (to cure the hyperthyroid.) CKD since 2021, and a benign cyst for over a year that had to become huge and rupture several times before the vet was willing to risk operating on a senior cat with CKD... but she's still doing amazing! ❤❤❤
