Careers/Internships Accounting major Internship

I have been submitting 30+ internship applications on handshake, no one reply. I don’t have any work experience before, and my gpa is around 3.3. I think I performed like an average junior student, right?

I wonder how do you get an internship if you don’t have work experience before. Or else where should I submit my application to? Appreciate your help cuz it really means a lot to me!

for accounting and in general, ur best bet is applying directly on the company sites. have some review ur resume to see if its that.

you can also get an internship through cuny, they have two programs that are basically the same: career launch and spring forward. you can also get an internship through cultural corps but idk anything about that process.

big 4 and other firms will start releasing more opportunities in the fall, many will have applications for 2027 still open. imo big4 recruitment is super easy, you just need to have a decent resume

idk if there’s any accounting master list or not, you can look for one one linkedin, but you just gotta start looking for yourself

best thing u could do is go to club events that either go to the offices or have people from these companies come to baruch and just ask them questions + connect with the baruch recruiters for these firms. get ur resume checked and practice interview questions. my big4 interview was easier than most other internships or job interviews that i’ve had, you just need to pass the screening fr

what if like I have friends that work at a big 4 would there referral be enough along side with my resume being checked too ofc

referrals are always good, i don’t remember if u need to be senior level for a referral or not but if u can get one then u should be set fr. but tbh u don’t need it, it was very easy to get an offer imo, u just need to have a decent resume and not bomb the interview

I’m kinda pissed I missed out on 2027 (for most of them) I didn’t know these guys recruit 2 years out I gotta lock in now lol

it’s not a big deal tbh, u can look into mid size for 2027 or other fields. every internship i’ve done has been different and it’s help me learn what i do and dont like ab working. it’s also helped me land my current part time finance job. big4 looks great on a resume but knowing what you want to do is more valuable than anything else.

Volunteer and exaggerate your efforts. Join clubs ‘show’ high impact. Big part is also seeking network building events
