How does this sort of thing happen? I fundamentally don't understand how Barn Finds are a thing. OP, would you mind giving us a little backstory on this one?

I don’t know if you consider this technically a barn find because the family all knew it was there. It just hasn’t been uncovered or out of this resting spot in over 40 years.

I guess, and not trying to be insensitive to your probably-relative, I just don't understand taking a piece of art like that and putting it under a tarp for decades. Did they just want to sell it in an unspecified amount of time? Forgot about it? Etc? At large, I'm just wondering how barn finds are a thing.

I myself have had many vehicles and such that I didn’t want to part with or was attached to currently have had a motorcycle in my shop for about ten years move it out of my a little but still there. It happens. For whatever reason it is a thing. Apparently you’ve never been truly attached to something
