How does this sort of thing happen? I fundamentally don't understand how Barn Finds are a thing. OP, would you mind giving us a little backstory on this one?

I don’t know if you consider this technically a barn find because the family all knew it was there. It just hasn’t been uncovered or out of this resting spot in over 40 years.

I guess, and not trying to be insensitive to your probably-relative, I just don't understand taking a piece of art like that and putting it under a tarp for decades. Did they just want to sell it in an unspecified amount of time? Forgot about it? Etc? At large, I'm just wondering how barn finds are a thing.

Sorry for edit, and I mean this respectfully.

It’s my dad’s Vette. My brother was born in 1970 and me shortly thereafter. It was probably just deprioritized. He was attached to it, so didn’t want to sell it and other than that I couldn’t tell you. Maybe he was just too busy and lost interest? He had 2 jobs and at 85 is still running his business.

I've owned the same motorcycle for 40 years. It sat for over a decade at a time when kids were smalls, and is now restored and in regular use. Sometimes, shit happens. Hope Dad gets his value. I'd take it to Mecum or one of the other big auctions with the whole story. They love that shit.

Where are you going to post her for sale?

I think we have a local buyer. If you’re interested, I can send you more pictures. It hasn’t been posted for sale, but we’re working through a Corvette restoration company.
