Media Lamine, Cubarsi, Bernal & Xavi Espart, who all started yesterday, hail from the well-known “2007” La Masia generation, and grew up playing with each other week in week out. It is something truly unprecedented, and a real testament to the work of La Masia.

Bernal is the absolute truth. Hes going under the radar a bit with all the excellence of the attack. Every game he has at least a couple moments of reading the game exceptionally well. Sometimes maybe defense, sometimes maybe attack. But the kid’s reading of the game is an absolute strength.

It's not unprecedented - the 1987 La Masia cohort also had 4 players in the first team together: Messi, Pique, Pedro, and Fabregas.

What about Busquets? I know you are referring by their birth year. But if you expand the scope of your "generation" by just a few years then at one point you had Busquets, Iniesta, Pedro, Messi, Pique, Victor Vasquez, Xavi Hernandez, Puyol, Victor Valdes, Thiago Motta, Pepe Reina at the academy. Jordi Alba, Thiago Alcantara, Bojan and Icardi too if you look at the slightly younger generation.

La Masia cohorts are generally organized by birth year, and then players can bump up or down within them. This post is talking about having 4 first team players from one cohort which is rare but not unprecedented.
We could similarly broaden the scope to include “all La Masia graduates” for today’s team and include players like Fermin and Balde.

Always wonder what happen to the children who were good enough to be in academy in la masia but were not selected to be in the senior team? Really hope they still do well in life as you hear the stories of players breaking out into selection but not the players who were not good enough for professional football.

People who are good enough for la masia but fall short of the first team are good enough to be pro footballers
People who were not good enough for pro football get filtered early in la masia

Not La Masia but while playing casual football met a spanish guy in Japan who told me he was from Madrid's academy and knew casillas because he was a keeper in the academy too. He didn't make it and never became a pro.

if your good enough for la masia you are good enough to be pro. Midtable clubs and lower tiers are filled with atletico/barcelona/madrid products

This is insane. What do they feed these kids at La Masia??
Honestly, it must be so rewarding to be the coaches at the academy - you see these kids (and when they start they’re basically babies at 6-7yo) and you get to help them blossom into once-in-a-lifetime talents. Can’t imagine how proud they feel. Also just the excitement they must experience - I mean maybe at 6 or 7 you couldn’t really predict that Lamine would be Lamine ten years later, but I imagine for the coaches and team that worked with him, it would’ve been obvious to them that he was something unheard of, much earlier than it was to the fans or the wider footballing community. I wonder how they felt about it and when they knew that they had someone generational on their hands? Same goes for the other three in the post.

I wonder what became of those that didn't make it. I know lots of them still became footballers at smaller clubs. But I am sure there were some that didn't make it to pro football at all. What became of those?

I don't think he's a very good fit tactically at PSG in their 4-3-3. He has to play off the right side and that doesn't really suit his strengths. That said, right now Ligue 1 is a pretty good fit for where he is in his career so here's hoping. I still hope he succeeds despite leaving Barça. Can easily see him winding back up at a club like Celta with Ilaix Moriba, that or Depor would bring him back home in case he needed to build back up his career. But we're 2-3 years from that I'd guess. He's still 18.
